  • Help in Clean Induction

I need some help as I'm starting over today with a clean induction. Cutting out artificial sweeteners and cream cheese because I think it may be hurting my weight loss. How does this menu look?

Breakfast - 3 fried eggs in 1tsp. butter
Chicken breast with paprika & chili powder

Lunch - 8oz. hamburger patty with mayonnaise and mustard
2 cups iceburg lettuce with ranch dressing

Snack - 2 boiled eggs with salt, pepper, and mayonnaise

Dinner - 8oz. Tuna salad on iceburg lettuce (mayonnaise, salt, pepper)
    2 Deviled Eggs

64 oz. water throughout the day

I liked the menu as far as your fat and proteins were concerned. But what is up with only iceberg lettuce. The stuff is like water. Virtually nothing of value in it. Try and find other more substantial veggies to provide you with the nutrients you need. Don't forget the supplements. But you are definitely on your way.

I agree with liv - having only iceberg lettuce won't give you much 'oomph' and barely gives you one net carb in total.

This will severely limit how much eggs, cream, cheese or dressings with carbs like mayo you can allow yourself if you are trying to follow Dr Atkins rules for induction
      3. Eat no more than 20 grams a day of carbohydrate, most of which must come in the form of salad greens and other vegetables. You can eat approximately three cups-loosely packed-of salad, or two cups of salad plus one cup of other vegetables
The menu you posted has probably at least 4 net carbs from non-veg foods.

Substituting maybe one cup of chopped sweet red peppers in your lunch salad for one of the lettuce cups would give you an extra 6 net carbs which would 'cover' the net carbs from non-veg food.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

You may also want to check the calorie count because if you're short like me, you can't eat that many. I know Dr. Atkins says not to count calories but I don't lose unless I do. Maybe Fitday would be of use to you because they count everything. Good luck!
