  • So far today... (Is this okay?)

    Does this sound fine?

    Breakfast (We went out.. talk about TOUGH)
    Omelet with provolone cheese
    a few slices of tomato (3 slices)
    3 slices bacon

    Snack
    Pumpkin Cheese Cake (6 carbs)

    Lunch
    Top Round Steak (sliced thin) and marinated in 0 carb marinade (teriyaki-ish)
    2 eggs, over medium.

    Snack
    Pumpkin Cheese cake (6 carbs) .. I admit, addicting!

    I just need to get in more veggies. I am going to have some chicken tonight (salad) with some garlic mushrooms.

    How does that sound so far?

    I think you are on the right track
    *Breakfast looked good.
    Some restaurants add pancake batter to their omelet so next time make sure to ask about that.

    *Lunch was good but add a bit of veggies to it. All your carbs no are coming from cheese cake and on induction most of your carbs should come from veggies.

    *Supper plans look good Remember that you are restricted to only one cup veggies from the "other list".

    I would watch that cheese cake for two reasons. You have a cheese limit for the day and you should not go over that and you have a sweets limit and again you have to stay under it.

    And do remember to drink plenty of water.

      It depends how many ounces of cream cheese are in each of the pumpkin cheesecake...

      I feel like each one has 1/2c of pumpkin (so 1c total of veggies from the "other" list) = 12g net carbs
      3 tomato slices (veggie from the "other" list) = about 2g net carbs
      Assuming 3 egg omlette, is 5 eggs total with .6 per egg = 3g carbs
      Each ounce of cheese (about 1 slice) is 1g carb... not sure how many slices would be in an omlette, and then each ounce of cream cheese is another gram..

      The mushrooms and chicken salad are a great choice for dinner since you've had no veggies from that group, and should have about 2c total of these.

      I think it sounds really great. I would probably only have the pumpkin cheesecake for one snack (and I do realize how addicting it is - I used to have it for breakfast every morning), and sneak a little something from the first group of veggies into breakfast, but it's fantastic...

          Okay - I just realized I screwed some things up. Luckily it's only the 2nd day and I can "fix" things. I was having way too much cheese. I can only have 3-4oz daily. (The pumpkin cheesecake is 12oz/8=1.5oz per piece. Which means I should have only had 1 piece - really.)

          Though- Lyssie counted the egg carbs and the book doesn't state we had to.. so I am confused about counting specifically like that. With the veggies - I can have 3 cups of veggies a day (or 2 loosely filled salad, and 1 cup veggies).

            With the veggies, there are two separate lists. From the first list, you can have 2-3 cups. From the second list ("other" veggies), you can have one cup if you've only had 2 cups from the first list.

            Eggs only have .6g carbs each, so depending how anal you are...

                Just becasue I am confused on Eggs and you guys are talking about them here.. I put eggs in fitday and it says it 1.3 carbs per egg. is it .6 or 1.3?

                  Maybe that's total for the amount of eggs you put in Fitday. When I put EGG COOKED WHOLE in fit day, it's .6 carbs.

                    In the Atkins book, on the carbohydrate gram counter, it says .6g. I'm pretty sure this is also the value in Dailyplate. I haven't used FItday in years.

                    In the 2002 edition of DANDR, most of the induction foods are listed on pages 124 and 125, if you flip to page 126, it gives the list of "other" veggies.

                      I have the revolution book. If the list says "other" veggies.. what does that mean? What does "other" mean.. and what is on the opposing list?

                        There are two lists of the induction-allowed veggies
                        The first is headed up
                        Salad Vegetables
                        You can have two to three cups per day:
                        The second list is headed up
                        Other Vegetables
                        You can have one cup per day if salad does not exceed two cups-these vegetables are slightly higher in carbohydrate content than the salad vegetables:
                        These are in chapter 11 of DANDR. As Lyssie said, the first list is on one page (#125) and the second list is over the page (#126), so you need to look at both lists to see what you are allowed.
                        Your page numbers/layout might be different depending on when/where the book was printed but it should have the same info.

                          My fitday version counts an egg as 1g (it rounds up anything over .5 which is probably the reason). I count eggs as 1g.

                            I have the biggest sweet tooth and I have been craving sweets especially cheesecake. And to make it worse I work at the cheesecake factory. Where did you get your 6 carb cheesecake?

                              Cheesecake Factory has the 6 carb cheesecake. I remember seeing it in the menu when I was in Baltimore.

                              However, being low carb does not automatically make it Atkins 'legal', especially not during induction. I don't know the list of ingredients and I doubt you can find it. It is also typically served with some strawberries on it, which, at least for me, are too tempting to be left on the plate.

                              There are several induction-friendly cheesecake recipes on the board. You can check those out or look on Linda's website:
