  • Could you review my menu please?

    Hi there-

    I am new to the boards. This is my first post. I am not new to Atkins, but it's been awhile. I have the book. I had to go off plan due to medical issues (not related to Atkins), but I'm back again. I really enjoy eating this way. I generally feel better with it too. I have about 10-15 lbs to lose total so I know it will take a bit to come off since I only have a little to lose. I also have a mess of hormone issues that complicate things so I'm not expecting miracles. Anyway, I am on my 4th day. Here is today's menu:

    Meal 1 - Omelet with cheese (2.5 eggs, 1 oz cheese)
    Meal 2 - 4 oz fish, cucumbers dipped in homemade sour cream dip (1 TBS)
    Meal 3 - 3 oz chicken breast cooked in coconut oil, side salad with 1/2 tbs ranch dressing, 1 hard boiled egg
    Meal 4 - tomato and mozzarella with olive oil
    Meal 5 - 6-8 oz fish, green/red peppers, a few onions

    I entered meals 1-3 in fitday and I am at 60% fat so far. I vary btwn three larger meals and snacks versus smaller meals depending on the day. I am not eating any artificial sweeteners at all (haven't had any in 9 weeks) and I only drink water and a lot of it...almost a gallon a day.

    Thanks for any help or tips.

    Hi Bree,

    Looks good to me!

    You didn't write the quantities for veggies though. You should go for 1 cup from the "other vegetables" list and 2 cups from the salad veggies list. Of course, you can also eat 3 cups of salad veggies, although IMO the veggies from the "other" list are tastier.

    For induction, you should aim for a 65-5-30 fat-carbs-protein ratio. 60% is not bad, but many people notice they lose better when eating more fat.

      The salad was 1.5 cups. The tomato for the snack is 1.5 roma tomatoes (not cups). The green peppers at dinner are like less than 1/2 cup. I think I will be more than 60% with the dinner and tomatoes because of the olive oil. I haven't entered it yet. Thanks for the feedback.

        I liked it too. I think the five meals are good if you can pull it off.
        Don't forget to drink plenty of water.

          Here's today:

          Meal 1 - Quiche (eggs, cream, little cheese, broccoli, scallions)
          Meal 2 - Chicken salad and cucumbers in homemade sour cream dip - 1tbs
          Meal 3 - Chicken fried "rice" (chicken, egg, cauliflower, soy sauce) and side salad with hard boiled egg and 1 tbs ranch)
          Meal 4 - tomato and mozzarella with olive oil and vinegar and basil
          Meal 5 - hamburger, little avocado, maybe a little onion

            Yes it looks good. I love chicken fried "rice" with a bit or garlic and ginger in it.
            Do you use fitday at all? It is a cool tool.

              Here is a link to my fitday page. I hope I'm not eating too many calories. I am only eating when I'm hungry. I know when I did Atkins before I was hungrier for the first week or so and then it tapered off. Then I had to remind myself to eat. I'm doing ok right? My ketostix are really light, but they are positive. Plus I did it this afternoon after drinking a lot. I wonder if they would be darker in the morning. Thanks for the support.

                I don't think that is too much. I have eaten around that many calories the whole time and lost on it. Just keep going. Are you losing inches or pounds right now?

                Your percentages are really good. You are right on with fat, protein and carbs and you are making most of your carbs come from veggie sources. So that is all good.

                  Thanks. I actually had to have a bit more food after I posted that because I was starving. It could be one of the new meds I am on. I'll keep an eye on it, but the scale is going in the right direction so as long as it does that, I won't worry about it. Thanks for the help.

                    Hello there!

                    I am in day 5, so so so frustrated!!! My husband is in ketosis and I am not. He is not having any trouble and I am. Here is my menu today. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!

                    1 cup mixed green salad with Parmesan cheese, chicken breast, 4 pieces of bacon and 3 tbsp caeser dressing.

                    1 cup pork rinds

                    1 pepperoni stick

                    taco salad with lettuce, cheese, avocado
