Okay, I've stalled so I'm hoping that I could get u guys to check out my menu to see if I'm doing something wrong or maybe not at all and what's happening is natural.

    Breakfast
Atkins low carb shake 2 carbs
    Lunch
3 slices of Boars Head oven gold turkey sliced thin
3 slices of cheese thin sliced
    mayo 2 tbsp
    Snack
    pork rinds
    Dinner
    pork chops or chicken
    2 cups of salad
1 tbsp of italian salad dressing 1 1/2 carbs
    1/2 cup of broccoli
    butter 1 tbsp
    Snack
peanut butter cups low carb it says 2 net carbs

I'm on extended induction so I thought the peanut butter cups would be okay. I have a sweet tooth, it's terrible but I figure as long as it's not the real thing it would be okay. This is basically what I have everyday along with 8 glasses of water, occassionally I'll but some lemon cyrstal light.
Thanks in advance for ur opionions Maria
Oh yeah I'm not sure how many carbs broccoli has so I just add on 4 carbs for that?

    Re: Stalled

Looking at your 'real food' items, they look fine though you are a bit short on your allowed veggies.
The shakes are often stallers for people - in fact the old Atkins company website had a whole page discussing this problem and told people to drop them if they did cause a stall. also you need to check the list of ingredients in them rather than trusting the label to decide whether they are allowed for induction. They may be too high in protein to give you the optimum balance of 65% fat/30% protein/5% carbs aimed for on induciton, so might need some fat added if you do decide all the ingredients are OK for induction.

Do the peanut butter cups contain any peanut product? If so then they are not induciton-legal and should be left till you are at the legumes rung of OWL

As to the net carb count of them - do they give you the 'bathroom effect' many sugar alcohols do? If so then you can ignore the SA carbs. If not then really you need to count every pesky carb - as your body is processing them, not allowing them to pass through your body undigested.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

      Re: Stalled

Thank you so much for taking a look at my menu. Sometimes I get a little confused with how much veggies and salad I can have. It's 2 cups of salad 1 cup of veggies or vice versa I read in the book that u should do 12 to 15 carbs of veggies and salad. I have to reread the book a little more carefully. As for the shakes I've laid off of them for a while it's just that I really dont have the time in morning to fix myself something to eat. And the peanut butter cups they dont cause me any side effects like going to the bathroom thank goodness. I'm just a junk food junkie and that really helps to take the chocolate cravings away. I have 3 kids and plenty of snacks in the house so it makes it a little difficult. But thanks to the p.b. cups it's helped me get thru it. Any advice coming from an expert is greatly appreciated cause I'm really starting to feel good about myself and dont want to turn back to my old ways of eating.
      SO thank you , Maria

        Re: Stalled

I have three little ones. A three year old and 2 year old twins. i HEAR not having a lot of time in the morning. I have never done the shakes b/c I KNOW they will feed my "cravings" and I have approached Atkins from the standpoint of stopping my cravings and food adictions in adition to loosing weight. I keep food cooked and ready to eat in the fridge. A typical breakfast for me is hard boiled egg and a hamburger patty. (I have my hsvband grill a bunch when he fires up some chicken or steak). When I have time I have a fried egg. I also keep sausage and bacon precooked in the fridge. Now I'm in OWL and I have many more choices. But I still eat mainly protien for breakfast. I'd also ditch the PB cups. They are feeding a craving. If you can eliminate the craving, you'll feel so much better. i have a terrible time with nuts. Everytime I eat them it triggers cravings, that I fight for days. It sounds like you are stalling b/c your body IS processing the sugar alcohol carbs in those products and you are eating 1. too many carbs, or two the wrong proportion of things. (take a look at the sticky about percentage) You are striving for 65% fat 30%protien and 5% carbs. I'm guessing that if you count ALL the carbs in the shakes and PB cups and adjust for the SA, you are WAY heavy on carbs.

I do know how hard it is with the kids snacks all over. I have really cut back those items in our house. The kids eat most of their carbs from fruits now and not the cracker stuff. I was mindlessly eating it alongside them. My kids love olives and blue cheese, avocado, hard boiled eggs, celery with humus, salad and they ask for broccoli! It's good to change their options too. Obviously you can't totally whack their carbs all together - but all the processed stuff isn't good for anybody.

          Re: Stalled

You have done well. Lost 21 pounds already way to go.
I think what I would do is cut out some of the sweeteners - maybe all of them. You have them in shakes, in snacks and in drinks. The problem with both the Atkins shake and the peanut butter cups is that we do not know how many carbs the body will absorb from those products. I know that the label says that they have very low carbs but the sugar alcohol can be iffy. Some people will absorb a lot more that the label claims.
The fact that you do NOT have bathroom issue from the pb cup may mean that you are just absorbing the carbs and therefore this is not a great product for you.
I thought Erika's advice was good. Not easy I know.

Also try to spread your veggies between all your meals if you can. You are supposed to have 3 cups - 2 from the salad list and 1 from the "other" list.

          Hope that helps

            Re: Stalled

Thanks for ur advice Ericka and Liv that sounds like the shakes and the pb cups are making me crave sweets instead of helping me. I was looking at it as if I cant have the real thing why not, but now that I think about it, I know why. It's causing me to stall and crave which defeats the purpose. So no more of that stuff I'm going cold turkey. Honestly I do so love my chocolate fix but I want to be healthy and happy a lot more. SO thanks and have a Happy Holiday season.
