  • Too much meat?

Hi, I've been on Atkins for 3 and a half months now, and despite interrupting the diet for at least half a dozen times, I've lost 17 kg, which is about 38 pounds. I've only got about 25 more pounds to go, so everything's looking fine at the moment.

But...I'm worried about one aspect. I've been eating a lot of meat (on average 400-450 grams a day) for a 100 days in a row. It's mostly pork and chicken, though I eat fish and turkey as well. I've tried partly replacing it with some of the meatless recipes, but they didn't turn out so good.

So, my question is - Is it too much meat (considering I've been doing this for more than three months)?

    Re: Too much meat?

AS long as you eat when hungry and as much food as satisfies that hunger without making you feel 'stuffed' as well as eating your 3 cups of veg along with your meat then I imagine you are doing fine.

Most of us find that our appetite decreases when we are in ketosis, but it would depend a lot on how big you are as to what a 'sensible' amount of meat would be.

The menus in DANDR are possible a good idea of how much meat should be considered a 'serving' - mostly between 100 and 150 grams of meat - so if you are eating 450 grams spread over 3 meals plus some snacks it doesn't seem excessive to me.

I assume with more than half of the weight lost already you are not still on induction. How far up the OWL ladder have you progressed?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

we do eat a lot of protein on this plan but as long as your eating your veggies and fat, I think you should be fine. Check out FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal for a couple days and check your stats. If your protein is over 35% your probably eating to much
