  • Menu check 6 weeks in!

    Hi,

I'm four weeks past induction, and plodding along happily. Still much more energetic and although the weight loss is slowing, I am noticing tight clothes becoming much looser.

I've added some yoghurt and blueberries into my diet just to get me out of the egg and bacon breakfast boredom, and so I was just hoping someone could just give me a quick menu check:

breakfast: small scoop of yoghurt, around 10 blueberries, 4 blackberries
snack: a handful of peanuts or some cheese
    lunch: large salad with prawns/chicken
snack: tin of tuna was some mayo
dinner: meat or fish with bowl of veg or salad

I'm worried that the nuts might be a bad idea, and that I might be having too much cheese, but I'm lasting great on the diet at the moment, and the intro of yoghurt has really made me begin to enjoy breakfast again.

    I'm currently 220lbs from a start weight of 238.

Congratulations on losing 18 pounds in 4 weeks

How many more do you need to lose to get to your goal weight?

How many net carbs are you eating at present?

Your food choices are including up to rung/level 4 OWL which is a bit fast for most of us to progress that far, but I guess you have started adding odd extra items together?

The main job of OWL is to find out how many net carbs you can eat and still lose weight/inches (your CCLL) as well as see if any foods affect you adversely.

By adding foods from more than one rung of OWL together you are risking not realising what foods if any upset your progress, as you will not know if the yogurt or the berries or the nuts are affecting you should you start having problems.

The beauty of doing induction to plan then climbing the OWL carbohydrate ladder carefully to plan allows you to isolate any problem foods.

If you had moved to rung one on your 3rd week (more veg) and rung 2 (dairy=yogurt) on your 4th week you could be just starting the 3rd rung and so could consider adding nuts/seeds now and be contemplating adding berries on the next rung.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
