  • Menu Chck please 3 weeks tomorow

    Hi Could you please take a look at my menu. I have finished my 3rd week of induction tomorrow. I lost 3lb the first week nothing the second and am hoping to lose another 2-3lb tomorrow. I have started exercising this week and bike 13 miles 3 times a week to and back from work, so am hoping to get a result this week. Am I consuming to many calories??

    I think it looks good for calories and your percentages are good.
    Make sure you eat the right amount of veggies - 2-3 cups of the salad veggies - 0-1 cup of other veggie.
    Also keep your sweetener under 3
    Today you had jello, splenda and an Atkins bar? So you went over 3/
    Also stay away from illegal items while on induction, Atkins bars, rye crackers, soy milk, aspartame.
    Good work on the biking - I hope you have a good weigh in day. But sometimes when we start exercise we develop muscles and retain some water so if the number is not there, do not let that discourage you.

      Hi Liv. Thank you so much for looking at my recipe. Yeah the sweetners I didn't know until last week that I needed to count them so I went back and added them in my fitday and have cut them out and just have on the odd day now. I mostly drink carbonated water all day now.

      I wonder if I am reading a different book than others as in my book on induction as a treat soy milk and cocoa are allowed and Atkins morning bars and rye crackers, these are from the under 20 carbs menus for induction. The book is called The All New Atkins Advantage. As you are more experienced than I am and if you think this will hinder my weight loss I will cut them out.

      I did my weigh in today and only lost another 1lb so 4lb altogether in 3 weeks is that average do you think or bad. I have about another 19lb to
      lose. I have't done my measurements yet but will do them tomorrow.

      Also another query I have is, I thought when you ate carbs such as salads or veg you need to be eating something fatty and protein with it, but could i have say a couple of heads of broccoli with a tbls of mayo? is that ok? Do you think I will benefit from staying on induction or should I now be adding another 5 carbs in and going up a rung maybe?

        You are definitely using a different book. Here we use the 2002 version called Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution. This was the last book written when Atkins was still alive so he had more of a say in that one. It was also a book where he for the first time really incorporate into his diet the fact that carbs are not all equal. That some carbs may be easier to deal with than others.
        Are you using the 12 step programme book that came out last year? Written by Heimowitz and Trager? They work for the company that Atkins helped set up - but the company has had other agendas - such as selling their own products - than the good doctor Atkins did. So here we are a bit skeptic about their advice and about the changes they made to the diet.

        I think losing four pound when you have 25 or so to lose is pretty good. I probably would try to stick to a clean induction (as recommended in the 2002 book) for another week just so you have tried that before moving up.

        You are right about eating your carbs always with protein or fat (fat is to prefer because our body can convert protein to sugar if we eat to much of it). Broccoli with mayo sounds really good.

        Also try to use only clean water for your water. And do not underestimate water as a huge tool in your weightloss progress

          Thank you so much for your help. Yes it looks like I have the newer version the one you mention of the book. I have had a look on amazon but there is 3, 2002 versions which book do I need please? I am going to tray induction for one more week the old way as you advise before I move on. Thank you again.

            Do you see the buy the book link up in the right hand corner when you scroll up? That is the book you'll need. You can often find it in used book stores too if you check those.

              Thank you very much, butI am from the uk and the link is from a US website. I went onto uk amazon but find there are 3 diff atkins books from 2002 on this site. I have put the link below could you kindly tell me which book is the correct one as i don't want to buy the wrong one

                    Well - I looked at the link you posted, Allykitten and the one I have is this one

                    From what I read here it seems to be the same version our USA friends use here.

                    Possible some of the others listed will be the same but just with different covers and printed slightly later or earlier than this one.
