  • 5 day menu for newbie

Hi, I'm gearing up to start on Wednesday...here is the menu I worked out for the first 5 days...

I bought bacon, ham & pepperoni sticks that show 0 carbs on the pkg. I am only buying cheese that is about 1 carb/oz. I have salad dressings that show 0 carbs on the pkg, and some that show 1/tbsp. I am not yet ready to completely give up my morning coffee - it used to be an XL 2sugar, 2 cream-I'm going to try a large decaf 2cream for now & see if I can cut back more later - Tim Horton's nutritional site shows that the 2 (large) creams will be 4 carbs...I know that's a lot.

Comments? Did I miss anything/break any induction rules? I saw somewhere here that eggs are counted as one carb...DANDR shows .6 - we get free-range eggs that vary widlely in colour/size, maybe I should count them as 1?

Thanks for the help...this board is great!

The first day looks good to me. You could probably have more calories than you plan on though. If you get hungry, don't hesitate to eat some more. You've got the max amount of cheese on there though...don't add anymore. Remember to drink LOTS of water. Divide your weight by 2. Shoot for that much water in ounces. It'll help you tremendously!! You'll begin flushing out the pounds!

OMG - I like water, but 150oz in a day? I'll have to move my office into the ladies' room!

          Yup that would help
I also think that the extra workout I get running to the bathroom cannot hurt either
          Good luck.

Re: 5 day menu for newbie

I just fooled around in fitday with my menu a bit...Everlosing mentioned that the calorie count might be a bit low. I was thinking that if I was still hungry I would add more meat (just increase the ham or chicken in the existing meals depending how I feel at the time) because I've already maxed out my veggies & cheese for the day...but that starts to throw off the protein/carb/fat numbers pretty quick...For example, I started with 1393 calories and a 64/31/5 mix. I thought that was "close enough" to 65/30/5. I increased the portions of meat at each meal in fitday a bit just to see what would happen, and got it to 1670 calories 63/33/4. At what point do you say -hmmm-that's not the right balance - and does anyone have any suggestions as to what to eat to help keep the 65/30/5 balance?

Also, I know Dr. Atkins suggested in the book that you can eat more calories on this plan & still lose compared to the "reduced calorie" plans that we are all oh-so-familiar
            with...what is your experience?

Thanks for all of your help & support!
