  • How does my induction menu look?

I work nights so it's a bit weird. I go to work @ 5 pm and get home around 3am.

When I wake up: (about 12pm)
1 piece of bacon or 1/2 cup baked turkey/chicken
1 hard boiled egg (yolk only)
2 radishes or equiv in size cauliflower

    Snack:
1-2 Pickles (0 carbs) or 2 cubes of cheddar (0 carbs) or 2 radishes

Lunch @ work /snacks: (I try not to eat after 10 pm)
1 pickle or 1 celery stick
2-3 cubes of cheddar or other 0 or 1 carb cheese cubes (cheddar, etc)
2 drumsticks or the equiv. in shrimp or 1 chicken breast
2 springs of parsley (for breath control)

I try not to eat when I get home at 3am but worst case scenerio is having the yolk of an egg and a large glass of water. I drink ALOT of water. (always have) but now I do even more.

You are eating way too little food. You should be eating twice as much as you are. You are also way too low on veggies. You need two cups of salad veggies and one cup of other veggiesevery day.

Your fats should make up 65% of your diet. Protein 30% and carbs 5%. I suggest you start using fitday.com and checking your menus there. If you are a woman you should be eating 1500 cals a day. If you are man 1800-2000, maybe even more. I am assuming the pickles are dills without any sugar added. Mount Olive brand is a good one. Sweet pickles are not allowed in Induction.

With the amount you are eating you are not getting sufficient nutrients AND you are shutting your own metabolism down, making it even harder to lose weight.

WOW....really? I'm not eating enough? I feel full though, I don't want to start eating more then I was before. The problem is I never ate alot before, just had the wrong things so over the years I gained alot due to bad habits. I have pcos so that's the main problem that hasn't exactly helped me. I didn't realize I was eating so little. I do use fitday everyday to track and check..etc and I know I need to start adding atleast a cup of greens to it but I was never a big salad person.

I take a multi vitamin and also green tea and hoodia which are appetite suppresants (and they really work) so I have a ton of energy throughout the day. I do get atleast 1200 calories in a day.
I swim daily (will start walking, etc soon)....

As far as the pickles, they don't have sugar so I am assuming they are dills. I just ran out so I am not sure of the brand but they are from the kosher aisle and def. no sugar or carbs.. Yesterday my percetages on fit day were:

      Fat
      ( 62%)

      Carbs
      ( 7%)

      Protein
      ( 31%)

      Alcohol
      ( 0%)

I thought I was doing ok, I just finished week 1 of induction and I am down 9 pounds (plan on staying until the end of may). I am a 25 year old female- starting weight was 249.5, now 240.7. Thanks for all your help!

The menu you posted there did not look like over 1200 calories. (but sometimes hard to say ). What would help you would be more meals. It looks like there is a very big gap between your meals there. Your body (which was programmed some time in prehistoric times) will draw the conclusion that if you are not eating, there is not enough food around. And if there is not around food around the body uses survival mechanisms to protect it self. One of them is to lower its own metabolism. We certainly do not want that when we are trying to lose weight. So we eat frequently (at least every 6 waken hour) and the body will be happy and think there is plenty food around - no need to stress and it can let go of access fat.

Thanks...it's hard with this schedule as my morning is at noon and I don't go to work until 5 pm, then get home at 4 and go to sleep. How would you set it up on this schedule? If it's any better, I do spread it out so for example, for breakfast, I'll have water and the boiled egg, radishes and then pick a little bacon or something. It's really not all at once.
