  • Planning to restart, after messing up for a while- review my menu pls

    hi all,

i have done atkins before....(have done the introduction and everything), actually finished off Induction phase with a weight loss of 12 lbs (not bad huh!) but then i messed up soon after. it's been almost 4 months, now i want to go back to doing Atkins! i made some notes before, and have read the book, but you know how we forget the teeniest tiniest of things especially when we're away for a while?

so anyway, hope someone could review my SAMPLE daily menu at this new attempt..and lemme know if im doing good or not:

    BREAKFAST:

1 big cup of decaf coffee with 2 packets of splenda
2 eggs, scrambled using 1 tbsp butter

    LUNCH:

3-4 big pieces of chicken (i usually just buy El pollo loco, or those baked chicken from Ralph's/Costco)
2 cups lettuce with vinegar/olive oil dressing

    DINNER:

    chicken - same as lunch
1 cup broccoli with vinegar/olive oil dressing

*LOTS AND LOTS OF WATER THROUGHOUT THE DAY
*i also eat porkrinds for snack (no MSG)

    thanks in advance for reviewing!!

Well that looks fine. You need to check the label on the chicken to see if any sugar have been added or carbs in any form. And you need some fat when you eat the chicken. Your protein levels will be very high here and fat somewhat lower. It should be the other way around

Your menu is very basic though. You probably going to get pretty bored if you eat like that everyday. Work in some variation for your sanity

      hi liv!

thanks for the reply. appreciate all your inputs.

yeah, it's a basic menu and i know i'll get bored in no time! yes ive tried linda's menu before, they're awesome and i'll do that again later.

about my fat intake - i usually whip up some salad dressing from linda's low carb menu, those that are oil/vinegar based, and she has pretty much calculated the net carbs per tbsp of it...usually it's 1 g net carb per tbsp, and i mostly use a lot of dressing on my salad - like, maybe 3-4 tbsp... and i use the same for dinner - plus there's my butter for breakfast...do you think it's still not enough fat?

From doing this for two weeks, I'd split up your veggies throughout the day instead of only two meals. I add mushrooms to my eggs, a cup salad at lunch, another at dinner, then other veggies spread out.

This controls my energy level a bit better, IMHO.
        What I do:
Elliptical gym machine 1 hr Tue-Sun
At 320, switch to cycling on my Trek 500
        2 filtered containers water/day
        Daily salads/veggies

        Workout in a XXXL shirt
        - DONE!
        Workout in a XXL shirt

          thanks for your suggestion, John.
oh yeah i should do that. didnt think of adding mushrooms to my breakfast eggs. i always thought 'veggies' are well suited for lunch/dinner only. sounds like a good idea. now i should be more creative. thanks!
