  • Day 1

Day one. Very exciting. I love this way of eating and wonder why I ever stop. That said, I hope the dreaded Golden Shot myth isn't true.

This morning, got McDonald's steak/egg/cheese bagel with no onions and tossed the bagel. Not the best choice. I should have gotten 2 egg rounds and the steak alone.

Lunch was chef salad from a work event.

Picking up a rotisserie chicken on the way home from work and will boil some broccoli.

Thanks to whatever lovely folks are doing the menu review. I appreciate the help and ANY hints you have to offer.

    Peace,
    carrie

Watch the rotisserie chickens - almost all of them are seasoned with stuff containing sugar :-( I used to use them a lot, now I pop a chicken in the slow cooker before I go to work instead.

What else do you do to the chicken? Uh, that doesn't sound right. What I mean is, will you share the details on cooking a chicken this way, for the chicken illiterate?
Thanks for checking this out for me.

        Re: Day 1

If frozen, thaw. Make sure the chicken is empty (sometimes butchers put some of the organs back in) Some people like to rub the chicken all over with butter, including under he skin where possible. I also season mine with a general "italian seasoning" (sugar-free) but use what seasonings you like. Put the chicken in the crock-pot breasts up, put on the lid & cook on low 6-8 hours

I'm not a morning person, so I do most of this the night before & just take the chicken out of the fridge & turn on the crock pot in the morning. It's done when I get home from work

Sounds great Julia. I will pick up chickens on the way home tonight and cook so it's ready for tomorrow's lunch. For tonight, I'll just leave the skin alone.

          Thanks again.
