  • First timer- Rate my Menu Please!!!

    Hi everyone,

I don't know if I'm eating too much, or too little. I know I'm not eating the max, but I still feel like it's too much and I'm not losing as fast as I'd like. Any comments are welcome, and most appreciated. Thank you!

    Yesterday:

1/8 of Linda's Quiche with cheddar, broccoli and bacon
2 cups of salad with Oil and Vinegar dressing (3 carbs for dressing total) and feta cheese (2 tsp)
11 buffalo chicken wings (0 carbs, 0 sugar according to the nutritional info)

    Today:

    1/8 of Quiche
2 cups of salad with Oil and Vinegar dressing (3 carbs for dressing total) and feta cheese (2 tsp)
9 buffalo chicken wings (0 carbs, 0 sugar according to the nutritional info
    4 oz. of steak

So what do you mean you are not eating "the max"?
How much are you losing? You're still on induction I take it. It is your first week?

Your menu is not bad. Pretty good start
It does look like too little. Eating is good on Atkins as long as it is the right items and as long as you do not stuff yourself which you obviously are not doing. Do not be afraid of eating.
Are you eating meals - is it three meals? Is the salad one meal? You should have some protein and fat with your veggies. And spread them out. And have three cups of them. As in the instructions. How come an oil and vinegar dressing have carbs? There is sugar in it?

I am not sure how substantial these wings are.
Have you added this into fitday. FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal is a very good tool for us low carbers. Try it and see if you like it.

Are you drinking PLENTY of water (and only water) You left our telling us your liquid intake.

Keep working at it. I thought it was a good start.

Re: First timer- Rate my Menu Please!!!

Thank you very much for your reply! It's my first week on Atkins, and I'm in induction. I guess I just hoped to be losing a bit more than the pound a day I have, 5 days in.

The Oil and Vinegar has some balsamic vinegar in it which has the sugar. Sadly, it's the only one I like, aside from high carb dressings like French and the like. It's 1 carb per 30mL, so not too bad, I guess, although not perfect.

I split my salad up into 2-3 servings, depends how hungry I am! I had 3 cups over 2 servings today.

My water intake isn't the greatest, yesterday was the first day I managed to drink a decent amount- 2L. I'll aim to drink that everyday, and more, hopefully!

Thank you again for your support!

I would cut out the balsamic vinegar and find a dressing that has the low carbs/sugar and still is something that you like...I use ranch personally when I tire of oil/vinegar. Have some meat with your salad too.
oH and by the way...a pound a day is enormous!!! Way more than I lose! lol You are doing fine. Like suggested: try using fitday maybe to keep track of how your doing. It helps me a lot!

I don't think you are eating enough... Your entire daily menu is about what I eat for breakfast & lunch I have 1/6 quiche for breakfast, 1.5 to 2 cups of salad plus between 2 and 4oz of meat, & dressing for lunch. Then 1.5 cups (ish) of veggies, plus about 4oz of meat for supper. I weigh the same as you do (although I am MUCH shorter), and am losing very well (45lbs since April 15th). Are you hungry at all eating this little? Maybe try fitday as suggested above...you don't want to send your body into starvation mode...it will fight you all the way.

          Also, are you exercising?

Re: First timer- Rate my Menu Please!!!

Hi everyone! Thanks again for all of your support.

I was hungry the first few days, and probably ate the same as above, plus 2 additional meats and 3 servings of "heavy" veggies (zucchini, spaghetti squash, cauliflower mash with cream cheese). I made a ton of them to last me, and can't bring myself to eat them though- and they're so good! I feel horrible that they're spoiling in my fridge

Before the diet, I barely ate. Maybe one meal a day, and very small- although mostly carb based. I have a sensitive stomach (medication) and so it's hard to stomach food at times, and the past few days I've been favouring a lighter menu. I do love ranch dressing, usually- but again, with the stomach, I can only handle the balsamic I'm having with some natural sugars in it. Hopefully I'll be able to have some soon! I tried to have a caesar today, and couldn't.

I'm not hungry, as I'm not even used to eating this amount. The first few days I think I was just craving carbs so badly that I ate a bit more to feel quite full.

Thank you for the suggestions for fitday, and for the continued support! You guys make it a lot easier for a carb-addict like me, and knowing you've done it too and have been there helps a lot. Continued success for us all!

Check the buffalo chicken wings to make sure they do not contain any sugars or maltose-dextrose or other ose's. You can not go by the nutritional information as the carbs can be below .5 carbs per serving and they claim 0. I am sure 11 wings is more than the recommended serving so you can see how the carbs could add up. Good luck.
