Hi there. I need some clarification on the menu posted. Is that one day's menu or a sample of meals over a couple of days? Are you in the induction phase of Atkins? If you are, we recommend that you ditch what we refere to as 'frankenfoods', low carb products such as shakes and bars. The sugar alcohols mess many people up and we encourage you that at least during your two week induction period to not use them. We want to use this time to break addictions to sweets, etc. If what you posted is a daily menu, it looks to me like you're eating too many veggies, although you did not list amounts. During induction it's either 3 cups of veggies from the acceptable salad list, or 2 cups of salad veggies plus one cup of veggies from the acceptable 'other vegetables' list. I see little protein and very little fat. On induction we strive to eat 65% fat, 30% protein and 5%carbs most of which come from the acceptable veggies. A tool like www.fitday.com can help you keep track. Also, I really think you're not eating near enough. Hope that was helpful. Drop me a line if you need clarification or help.

yep what she said and you have too many of the 1 cup veggies listed to be under that 1 cup a day limit.

remember Atkins is a ketogenic diet plan not a high protein plan so you need fats in your diet to set up fat burning in your body.

      Happy low carbing.

One way to boost your fat intake would be to have more fats like melted butter on the 1 cup of broccoli and some fullfat dressing with the salads - one cup of salad veggies per meal.

Then if you also dropped the shake and have perhaps some eggs or other 'legal' cooked food instead you might find your menu was just right! :yes

Though the shakes are mentioned by Dr Atkins he did say that replacement meals were OK for emergencies but not as a regular menu item.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
