  • Here is my menu from today

    Breakfast:
    2 large eggs (scrambled)
    3 pork sausage patties
1 slice of American cheese (melted in eggs)
    20 oz. water

    Snack:
    SF Jello Cup
    10 oz. water

    Lunch:
5 oz. Leftover beef fajita meat w/ 1/4 cup bell peppers
    20 oz. water

    Dinner:
6 oz. chicken breast coated in olive oil/herb mixture, then rolled in 1/4 cup parmasean cheese
1.5 cups of salad (romaine, 1/2 a small roma tomato, 4 cucumber slices)
    2 tbsp hidden valley ranch
1 cup steamed broccoli with butter sauce
    Sprite Zero

    Snack:
Atkins Advantage bar (and yes I didn't find out I couldn't have them until I got on here tonight, why do they even sell them and say 2 net carbs and safe for all phases if its not true, so frustrating)

I hope I did this right. Thanks for any input.

Hi Marine Wife. Welcome to the menu section. Congratulations on starting
I think it is looking pretty good. I have a few suggestions here that you may want to think about

The American Cheese (unless it is the delux variety) is usually a processed milk thing. It is carby and not allowed on induction. You can substitute with read cheese.
Make sure you have read the ingredient list on the sausage package and make sure not sugar, syrup, honey or dextrose is to be found there

    Snack:
    SF Jello Cup
    10 oz. water
Way to drink your water. I would like to caution against the jello cup as they are often made with the sweetener aspartame that Atkins warned us against. A good Atkins snack may be a devilled egg. A meat and lettuce roll up or a piece of celery with some cream cheese.

    Lunch:
5 oz. Leftover beef fajita meat w/ 1/4 cup bell peppers
    20 oz. water
Nice - the fajita meat is sugar free right?

    Dinner:
6 oz. chicken breast coated in olive oil/herb mixture, then rolled in 1/4 cup parmasean cheese
1.5 cups of salad (romaine, 1/2 a small roma tomato, 4 cucumber slices)
    2 tbsp hidden valley ranch
1 cup steamed broccoli with butter sauce
    Sprite Zero
the vegetable rule in the book (which we follow - we ignore the addition the commercial Atkins cooperation have made to the diet - is the eat only 3 cups of vegetables. Two is to come from the salad list and one from the other list. So one cup of broccoli is fine but you cannot have tomato too that day.
See here for a list of how vegetables should be eaten
http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)
Alos you need to check that the hidden valley ranch does not have too many carbs. I think if it is the original one it is OK
Sprite Zero is that aspartame again? Can you replace it with water? Drinking sweet stuff may not be the greatest. Perhaps the occasional treat

    Snack:
Atkins Advantage bar (and yes I didn't find out I couldn't have them until I got on here tonight, why do they even sell them and say 2 net carbs and safe for all phases if its not true, so frustrating)
    16 oz. water
Yes the company is trying to make money. And they do this by developing and selling products. They have tweaked the rules somewhat so these products are legal to those rules. But here we go with the fact that many people report stalls with these products. So better to wait till you are later on in the programme. And only use them for emergency for now.
Try eating some whole foods for snack. Less chemicals mean less trouble for dieters.

So what I am saying is that you are definitely on the right track. Keep going.

Thanks so much! Your advice was very helpful No more sprite zeros or bars for me and I'll watch my ingredients lists better, I thought I could have up to 20 carbs, so I'll try to cut that out thanks!

        >>I thought I could have up to 20 carbs>>

Induction is at 20 net carbs, and "most" of those should come from Induction vegetables.

Try getting 12-15 net carbs from that list of vegetables ... I bet you'll see results!

And you might want to aim for 1/2 your current body weight in ounces of water.

thanks for the tips! I'm having a hard time with remembering all these rules, soooo many its complicated oh well I'll get over it, I'm just constantly asking myself is this enough, is this too much, I'm not gonna post my menu again, I really appreciate the tips but I felt so down on myself afterward and became paranoid of everything LOL such is life, I'm gonna keep trying!

Re: Here is my menu from today

Print out a copy of the rules. Post them where you might see them ... after a while, they become "second nature".

Keep in mind that we all had to go through this learning ... and it's really worthwhile, imho.

Remember, count your carbs ... that's what this is really about ... the rest is just our experience talking!

And ... it's up to you whether or not to ever post a menu again ... but I hope that if you are having questions, you do ask them.

            We never learn without asking.
