Hi Pommy...may not be so bad.

First, avocados ARE fine for Induction but only HALF an avocado. So next time you know only have half.

Next...looking at Dottie's mushroom soup for recipes. The entire batch makes 1 cup. That is not the intended serving size as it is supposed to be used as a sauce in smaller amounts. If you did not have the entire recipe then you could adjust that portion and that would bring your carbs down.

Looking at that custom food, I would suggest editing it to be 8 oz. rather than 1 serving. That way it is easier to log in the amount of it that you ate. Also, if you could plug in all the nutritional info that Linda provides (such as fats) this would be very helpful in assessing your daily menu.

Hope this helps a bit...sorry I can't advise you in metric terms.

Hi Thanks for your reply.. actually you might be right about the mushroom soup - I made one batch to have it as a sauce over our steaks - between the three of us! DUH!

Will keep in mind about the avocados - but it was actually only a teeny weeny one...! They are in season here in NZ and are cheap and yummy with all the salads i'm having!

So might not be all that bad as you say...!

Re: Think Ive blown it for today, have a look at my menu please!

I took another peek at your FitDay and it also dawned on me that avocado 17.1g carb is not the net carbs...
        meaning 17.1g carb - 13.5g fiber = 3.6g NET avocado carbs.

So...it really is that erroneous mushroom soup entry that is really boosting your net carbs. If you had about 1/3 of the recipe that would translate roughly to 3g net carbs.

Back to the avocado...your entry is just for generic avocado which has the highest numbers. If you look at the other options (drop down box beside amount) you can see selections for the smaller avocados or even mashed or sliced/cubed amounts. I'm thinking your teeny avocado has smaller stats than you logged in.

One thing before I say anything about your menu. If you ever mess up, never panic about it. Go over your menu, figure out what was wrong and be careful not to do the mistake again. You should also plan your menu and have an idea of what your carbs will be for the day before eating all your meals. At the end of the day, it is too late to make changes.

          Now your menu.

First, Dottie's Soup has 873 calories, not 87.

Second, if you ate 1/3 of the soup, your veggies for the day were:

          Salad vegetables
          1 cup lettuce . . . . 0.9 net carbs
          1 slice red pepper . . . . which is 0.07 cup red pepper . . . . 0.4 net carbs
          1/3 stalk celery . . . . which is 0.1 cup celery . . . . 0.2 net carbs
          1 oz mushrooms . . . . which is 0.4 cup mushrooms . . . . 0.7 net carbs

          Other vegetables
          1/3 oz onion . . . . which is 0.06 cup onion . . . . 0.7 net carbs

During Induction, avocado does not count towards your vegetables. It is a Special Category Food, that may stall or slow down weight loss for some people. We are allowed at most 1/2 of a small avocado per day. So it's good that your avocado was small, but you should have still eaten only half of it.

In total, you had 1.6 cups of vegetables, which added up to 2.9 net carbs. Your total net carbs for the day, assuming you ate only 1/3 of the soup, were 22.6.

During Induction, we eat 3 cups of vegetables (either 3 cups of salad vegetables, or 2 cups of salad vegetables and 1 cup of "other" vegetables). Furthermore, over half of our daily net carbs should come from these 3 cups. None of this happens in your menu, so try tweaking it a bit.

Cream is limited to 2-3 tbsp. 3 oz of heavy cream are allowed as a Special Category Food, which are foods that may stall or slow down weight loss. You had 4 oz of cream entered separately in FitDay, plus 2 more ounces from the soup. Way more than what it is allowed on Induction, and that's something you should also change.

Are you sure you ate 150 g (5 oz) of bacon? I am asking because bacon is a processed meat. Probably cured with sugar, but even if it isn't, it has a bunch of sodium (~1200 mg, unless it's low sodium) and that may cause water retention.
