  • Am I on the right track?

This is day 4 and I just would like someone to look over what I've been doing to make sure I'm on track and following correctly.

I've been keeping track at Fitday.com
and the graphs shows the following daily AVERAGES for 3 days:

    Calories 1,750
    Fat 133.0
    Saturated 48.2
    Polyunsaturated 13.2
    Monounsaturated 33.8
    Carbohydrate 11.9
    Dietary Fiber 1.7
    Protein 118.1
    Alcohol 0.0

    Fat 69%
    Protein 28%
    Carbs 3%
    Alcohol 0%

Basically I've been eating the same things which include:
    Beef, top sirloin
    Endive, raw
    Romaine, raw
    Bacon, cooked
Beef, ground, 95% lean pan cooked
    Gelatin sugar-free
    Dill Pickles
    Cheese, Colby, String or parmesan
    Shrimp, cooked
    Ham, cooked
    Summer Sausage, pork and beef
    Mushrooms, cooked
    Celery, raw
    Egg, deviled
    Soft drink, decaffeinated, sugar-free
    Tea,decaf. chamomile
    Egg, whole, fried
    Coffee, decaffeinated
    hot dog, beef
    Smoked Summer Sausage
    Olive oil
    Chicken breast strips, pan fried

Been using very little butter, mustard, a smig of mayo and a couple of drops of skim milk in my coffee just to keep me sane and plenty of water.

Keeping it at 3 meals each day with some snacking (celery, cheese sticks, jello) between meals.

Looking forward to any comments, suggestions or criticism!
    Many thanks,
    Deloris

    Hi Deloris
Hard to really critique you as you do not list meals for me.
    Like
Breakfast: eggs (2) and bacon (4) cooked in bacon fat (2tsp) with half a tomato
    Coffee, cream and splenda
    water

So I will just list some possible things to look out for.
**I like the plenty of water. Keep that up. Plenty and then a bit more No sugar added though
**Watch sausages, ham for sugars - they usually have them
**make sure you keep to your cheese limit 3-4 oz
**Do not use skim milk - use full cream - always think fat, fat, fat
**Be careful with anything that is sugar free - this is not ATkins legal just because it is sugar free - Some of us cannot deal with the sweeteners added. Atkins himself found that many people did very poorly with aspartame and he suggest not having any.
**Do not snack on stuff that are fat and protein free. We should not eat pure carbs. If you want celery you may have it with some cream cheese.
** Make sure you have 3 cups of vegges (2 from salad list, one from other list. There is room for more carbs in your menu. So you can have other veggies than greens. You need nutrition
    **Take your multi vitamin

And the multi-vitamin should be iron free, unless prescribed by your doctor!

Thank you for the reply. I guess I should have clarified that I'm eating only the foods I mentioned.

I have been watching the labels for sugar content and have avoided them so far. I don't use sugar or substitutes add-ins ...like my tea is just a tea bag and water.

There is, however, aspartame in the caffeine/sugar free soda and jello.
I've been cooking everything with a touch of olive oil and draining the fat juices.
I drink a small cup, 6oz, of decaf coffee in the morning each day and put in about 1 Tbsp of skim milk. I don't like sweet coffee so I don't use add-ins.
I don't have the cream you mentioned but I'll look for it at the store.

Celery sticks seems to be my saving grace between meals. I'll do as you suggest and add cream cheese to them.

I have been keeping under 3-4 oz of cheese each day.
I'll add some more veggies and the multivitamin I do take.

I have to say so far I'm doing ok on this diet. I think because I'm not use to eating so much food!!
What I find so interesting is, now on day 4, my stomach grumbles as if it's telling me I'M HUNGRY but I eat so much more food than I'm use to and that's telling me that this diet must be working because I can't remember that last time my stomach GRUMBLED! LOL

        Thanks again, Deloris

If you are hungry on Atkins, you should eat.
