    >>Do I need to take some everyday?>>

Are you eating all your vegetables?

Are you eating vegetables with fiber?

Are you getting all your water?

      Water...yes

I could squeeze in a little more vegies.

veggies with fiber?....I thought they all have some fiber in them.
Please advise me which ones are higher in fiber....

If I have 20 net carbs to use on veggies then does it really matter if I have more than one cup cooked? The way I understand it, the salad veggies should be no more than two cups in order to have one cup cooked. Is that right or can I have more cooked veggies as long as the total net carbs aren't over 20.

Best to look up the carb/fiber counts yourself ... that way you'll know.

One of the "side effects" of Atkins is the self-education!

Not in my experience or opinion.

You should have, in my experience and opinion, as close to 20 net carbs as possible with MOST of those net carbs coming from Induction vegetables.

This is from the Atkins Stickies:
          http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/useful_files/CARB_COUNT.pdf

It gives fiber counts, or you can use the internet to find out fiber counts too, just google...

Take some time and read the stickies in the Forum, you will find a lot of info and tools there.

Remember though that it's not 20 net carbs to use on veggies. It's 20 net carbs to use on all the carbohydrate-containing foods you are consuming. So this includes eggs, cheese, spices, cream, avocado, etc... not only vegetables.

You might find this useful: Nutrient Data Products and Services

You can use it to generate a list of foods from the USDA database, sorted by decreasing fiber content per "common measure".

Of course, not all foods on the list will be appropriate for Induction.

                  Re: Menu check, please!

Try to get a variety of food each week -- don't eat the same thing over and over or you'll get bored and that's not good. Make sure you're getting 1 cup of veggies from the 2nd part of the veggie list everyday -- 1 cup of green beans, 1 cup cauliflower, 1 cup broccoli, etc.....not just salad vegetables.

It sounds like you are getting the hang of everything!! Keep up the great work.

there are many different versions of the atkins diet but the one this board uses is the 2002 copyright DR ATKINS NEW DIET REVOLUTION so no you should not during induction add any more then your 3 cups of veggies. Those 20 net is the upper limit not the eactual required amount. you also need to be counting the carbs in your eggs, cheeses, legal condiments, and spices and herbs.
After day 14 you can move to the OWL phase and add back 5 more net grams of those yummy induction veggies so you are satisfying your veggie wants.

                      Re: Menu check, please!

Dr Atkins allows fiber for constipation per rule 12 of induction chapter 11. Once you add it you can keep it for preventive measures which is why many inductees eat flax chips and muffins as aprt of their induction legal foods.

There have been some studies recently that have disproved the fiber for constipation cure and that actually higher fats in the diet does a better job so check your fats and see if manybe a little more fatty food wouldn't help with that.

Also you know since you don't have all the junk in your diet you will have less waste to expell doing atkins so you will not need to move your bowels as often neither and unless you are in distress you are not constipated cause you didn't go every day as you did before.
