  • First Day of Induction..I think I accidently messed up

Okay I ate 2 egss cooked with margarine (with 0 carbs or trans fat) a slice of ham 3 pieces of bacon half a rotiessere chicken with a tbs of green chile sauce and a couple of slices of grilled onion.
Then I went to work. Of course we are having food tonight so I opted for what I thought was safe. 2 meatballs (i wiped the sauce off and drained it with my napkin) and 2 small cubes of cheese. Then I started thinking how some meatballs if not homeade have fillers that are filled with sugar and carbs. So I asked my co-worker how she made them and of course they were store bought. I want so bad to do well and I know that I will be on the straight and narrow tomorrow. I have never had really good success with this diet but I know within my heart that I am ready now. Help, did I just mess up horribly on my first day?

First off, you shouldn't be using margarine. It very often has transfats. Use real butter instead.

Did you read the list of ingredients of the rotisserie chicken? They are very often plumped with a sugar solution and some have flour on the skin.

    >>of course they were store bought.>>

Well ... we have all eaten something we weren't expecting. And I know it will happen to me in the future, too!

What you need to do is to make this a learning moment ...

    >>did I just mess up horribly on my first day?>>

No. You made an honest mistake. Learn from it and keep moving forward.

Did you have any vegetables today?

      0 carbs or trans fat
If anything is below 0.5 grams per serving, it can (and usually will) be rounded down to 0.

I will be getting my butter asap but the marg actually didn't have any trans fat this time. The chicken didn't have ingredients documented. I got it from a mexican food smoke house that just seasons their chicken with chilli powders and spices. And no I didn't eat any veggies today .

Will not eating veggies prohibit my weight loss? I am just so afraid that I may not see good results even though I am actually motivated this go around.

This thread was posted in the Atkins Diet 14-Day Induction and Review My Menu forums, so I merged everything into one.

If you don't know the ingredients, better don't eat it. If you plan better, you can cook your own chicken.

                It would not be Atkins.

You would be missing on a lot of nutrients needed for good health.

And yes, being deficient in certain nutrients can slow down your metabolism.

I am just so afraid that I may not see good results
If you eat vegetables or if you don't?

Are you reading Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution (2002)?

That is a true statement. Eating home cooked meals is always best with Atkins because you know exactly what is being put into it.
I don't mind eating the veggies, it felt like maybe I was eating too many of them in the beginning the last time I tried because I had not so good results.

And I have the 1992 Atkins book because before I started this forum I didn't really see the difference but I ordered the updated version online today so I am on the right track I hope.

The statement I made about not seeing results is just overall not because I have or haven't eaten the vegatables.

Re: First Day of Induction..I think I accidently messed up

I would try 'doing it by the book' to see how you do - that is likely the best way to get the best possible results - remember, Dr. Atkins spent most of his career/life working on improving his plan so that it works That is why we go by the 2002 version - it is the last one published by Dr. Atkins while he was alive.

On induction, this means 3 cups of veggies/day. Check out the "stickes" at the top of the forums - the rules are summarized there...that should get you started off on the right track until you get your copy of DANDR '02.

Thanks for your encouragement and advice. You are right if done by the book you cannot go wrong. I just need to get over the fear that I will not lose weight on this diet. If done right I am sure that results will be acheived.
