  • I am not losing weight like before.

    Two day menu is as follows. Please tell me what is wrong and why I may not be doing as good this time as I was last time I was on Atkin's.

    b fast
    1/4 pkg sausage mixed with 4 eggs scrambled
    1 c tea

    lunch
    2 hamburger patties with colby cheese
    1 cup salad (lettuce cabbage eggs cucumber cheese)
    2 T no sugar ranch dressing

    snack
    3 oz pork rhinds

    dinner
    1 pork steak with cumin, garlic, chili powder
    1 cup green beans

    snack
    1/2 c sugar free jello with 1 1/2 T heavy whipping cream and 1 Equal




    bfast
    2 eggs fried
    10 strips sugar free low sodium bacon
    1 c tea

    snack
    1 pork steak



    lunch
    omelette with 3 eggs 1/2 c spinach, 1 slice tomato
    1 slice turkey
    6 sausage links (no sugar)

    snack
    1/2 c pumpkin with 1 1/2 T cream cheese, pumpkin pie spice
    1 Equal

    Dinner
    2 chicken breasts cooked in butter
    garlic
    salt
    pepper
    chili powder

    3/4 c spaghetti squash
    1 oz cheddar cheese
    1 T cream cheese
    1/4 c spaghetti sauce ( no sugar)


    snack
    sugar free jello
    1T heavy cream

    Please let me know. Am I eating too much? I am on the 1st rung (Veggies). I was losing through induction (12 pounds), and now i am gaining some back (2 pounds so far). Help!


    This is the second time trying Atkins and hopefully this time it will be a permanent life change for me.

    did you just add 5 net grams of those yummy induction veggies to your induction menues or did you jump to 25 net grams of carbs? some folk eat their induction at 12-15 grams so they should do their OWL at 17-20 net grams.

    What new to you food from the list did you introduce if any? it could be the new to you food is an issue.

    Is TOM near?
    Are your bowels moving the addditional fiber of 5 more net grams of veggies can add weight to your intestinal tract as it moves through.

    Any thing else new in your life? less exercise? more exercise? both of those can effect scale weight

    and as I'm sure you know weight loss isn't a linear thing so it is very normal to have some up days and even some flat days on our way to the overal downward journey to goal weight.

      0ne more thing are you actually hungry and need everything you are having to satsify your hunger each time you eat? over eating our atkins can cause weight gain too. As we progress on atkins our appetite should be suppressed and we should not be eating the same amounts each day as our hunger will fluctuate too.

        It's just not the "last time" now. I bet that even if you eat the same foods every day, you won't be losing the same amount of weight daily.

        You are also older.

        And, I don't know if you did this, but dieting on and off is also likely to slow down one's metabolism.

        Is this an OWL Rung 1 menu? Because it definitely doesn't look that way. A cup of green beans and one of salad is not enough vegetables even for Induction.

        2 T no sugar ranch dressing
        Are you aware that it has some carbs?

        3 oz pork rhinds
        Unflavored? Did you read the list of ingredients?

        And a serving size of pork rinds is 1/2 oz, if I recall correctly... so you are eating 6 servings. That's a lot of sodium. Plus, you might be overeating protein... and pork rinds aren't exactly the best source of protein you could have.

        Are approximately 65% of your calories coming from fat?

        now i am gaining some back (2 pounds so far)

          I started OWL one week ago. I have been eating the pork rhinds because I thought they were safe. They are unflavored but I didn't think about the salt. This is the second diet that I have been on. I went off of it last time because I had a baby and strayed some. I usually eat more veggies than that but I am trying to eat 1-2 cups of salad a day and then one more cup of other veggies like asparagus or pumpkin. Is this the right way to do this? I was eating 20 carbs a day on induction. Do I need to make sure that I eat 25 grams no matter how many veggies that is? I thought I needed to measure.

            Also, I do know that there are 2 carbs in the salad dressing and I am counting that as my 25 carbs a day. What else can I have as fat besides cheese, animal fat, butter, oil, heavy cream?

              Good job on going on rung one. There is a bit of fluctuation that happens as you head into 2nd or 3rd week. It is very normal do not worry about it. Looks like you are on the right path.
              The extra carbs to make 25 carbs should come from vegetables so you should be eating your 3 cups and then 5 net carbs more of veggies. So you need quite a bit of more veggies there. Go crazy
              Pork rinds are OK. But try other snacks too. How about snap peas? I like those for snack sometimes with a tad of cheese maybe.

                we keep the induction legal veggies 3 cups and 4 ounces of cheese and 3 servings of sweetners a day limits from induction and add 5 more net grams of those yummy induction veggies during OWL week one. so you can have a lot of greens if you want or you can add some more of the other veggies, just don't pick all lettuce for your additional 5 net grams cause that is an awful big serving to try to swallow.

                You can mix and match but if you pick a veggie you didn't have during induction to try during OWL rung one then you only have the new to you food 3 times the first week to see how it eff4ects your weight and your craving controls. if it doesn't have any negative effects you keep it and can have it as often as you like within your carb limits but if it gives you any problems then you punt it and don't eat it again until way later in your atkins.
