  • Overly cautious or Right to be concerned...

I am always so nervous that I am doing everything wrong so can someone please look at 2 days worth of eating for me and just reassure that I'm on the right path, or critique it and let me know that I'm not or where I could imporve.

Let me start by saying that as of now I only have the DANDR 1992 copy. I have ordered the updated version twice the first place I ordered it from said it would be sent last week then sent me a message this week stating that the seller made a mistake and that it was out of stock. So I am trying it again and hopefully I will have my 2002 copy by next week. Secondly, my last day of induction is tomorrow and as of Tuesday I had lost 8 lbs which I am pretty happy with. The only thing is that while I FEEL that I have been following it to the -T- (and it has not been easy at times), I still have concerns that I may not lose anything else or that one little un-intentional mistake may cost me big when I am working so hard to do right.

So, here are my menus for today and yesterday as follows:

early am- 1/2 cup of tuna fish (tuna, mayo, finely chopped celery, egg)

mid am- 2 oz of mexican sausage (chorizo) and 2 eggs scrambled together

mid pm- 4 small hamb meat patties with 1/2 slice of american chz on each (which would equal 2 slices total) *think McDonalds Mcdouble without the buns, pickles, onions, or ketchup
pm- 1 cup of romaine lettuce and 2 small mini tomatoes , a fried chicken breast and leg pan fried in vegetable oil no flour (I usually do Canola but my hubby did the shopping that go around) with a slice of american chz less than 1gram of carb and no sugar

pm- and for later a cup of sugar free jello

*nothing but water all day today*

    yesterday:
am- 2 oz of mexican sausage and 2 scrambled eggs mixed together

lunch- 1 cup of tuna, 1/3 of a cucumber with mayo and 1 boiled egg

dinner- 1/2 cup romaine lettuce and 2-3 oz of grilled fajita meat 1/2 tbsp of ranch dressing 1 tsp of guacamole and 1 slice of american chz 1 tsp of salsa

packet of sugar free carb free koolaid (grape)
    plenty of water
    sw 233/ cw 233/ gw 140

    mini goals:
    1. 215
    2. 200
    3. 175
    4. 150
    5. 140 (GW)

What's "plenty of water" in actual ounces.

American cheese ... there's better choices. Does this come in it's own individual wrapper or is it "real" American cheese?

Does the salsa have added sugar?

    >>a cup of sugar free jello>>

There's really no nutrition here ... if you can do without, you'll be better off.

    >>grilled fajita meat >>

Did you buy this already seasoned? If so, did you read the list of ingredients?

Yesterday you didn't have enough vegetables.

    >>The only thing is that while I FEEL that I have been following it to the -T->>

Not for 2002 Atkins you haven't. You're not eating enough vegetables, which are at the heart of doing Atkins. What you're doing right now is essentially 1972 Atkins ... which was lacking vegetables during the first week ... and then you started to add more. Don't get trapped in the thinking that Atkins is like Induction (which wasn't even a term in 1972!).

    Have you read:

Have you checked the library for a copy?

    >>one little un-intentional mistake may cost me big>>

It doesn't ... we all make mistakes ... we all eat something we didn't intend. The trick is to keep moving forward.

Yeah I read those 2 links that you listed at the bottom now that part is exactly the same as the '92 DANDR.

I will try to imporve on my veggies.

All of the things I eat I check the labels and make sure that they have no sugar and less than 2 grams of carbs. This includes pre packaged meats, cheeses, salsa, dressings, etc.

I have a large 48 oz cup I try to drink atleast 2 of those with water day.

I will feel better once my book comes in.

Processed cheese isn't allowed (cheese slices) "real" cheese is better. All of the ingredients in everything you eat should be on the list of foods acceptable for induction - not just sugar-free and less than 2 carbs.

Low on veggies - the rule is 3 cups/day.

        Good otherwise though...keep on truckin'

I think you are eating a bit too little.

Perhaps try to plug it into FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal and see how the numbers comes out.

Re: Overly cautious or Right to be concerned...

the change from your 92 to 2002 is that 2002 the other veggies are measured uncook and are 1 cup in size.

And rule 5 has changed to eat nothing not on the lists so you can't use a gram counter to add things like nuts and seeds to your 14 day induction except flax seeds if you are constipated.

the sweetner of choice has changed to from Equal to Splenda.

so eat more veggies drink more water and keep following the other rules.

What are you doing for the mandatory exercise part of your Atkins?

I work 4p-2a and I have 3 children one who is an infant so I am just now finding the energy to do anything but lay in bed until time to go to work again. I plan to start walking once the babies stop getting sick back to back.

taking care of kids is exercise and totting an infant is resistance exercise too so just play with your little ones and count it as part of your exercise.
