  • Induction Menu Help?

    Hello everyone,

I am currently on day 5 of my Atkins re-start. I was successful with the Atkins lifestyle several years ago but went off of it while going through some infertility struggles. I did eventually gave birth and now my son is 18 months old, I am heavier than I have ever been.

I'm glad I found this site, as I found things I have been doing wrong. One thing that is not added to my menu is an Atkin's Bar I ate today (approved for induction) with a net carb of 3. (After reading here, I will no longer be eating those!!)

Also, I will be drinking a TON more water and will try to get my soft drink (sugar free) habit kicked.

Can you tell me if I am on track or if there is anything I need to tweak?

    Thank you so much!

    Re: Induction Menu Help?

Cheese is limited to 4 oz per day. Did you weigh it? And if you used real cheddar, then the correct entry for it is "Cheese, natural, Cheddar or American type".

You are low on vegetables. Over half of your daily net carbs should come from them, which is not happening if you are eating a cup of lettuce, one of spinach and an ounce of onion. I would add more vegetables and mix things up instead of eating the same thing every day.

Eating close to 20 net carbs, with over half of them coming from Induction vegetables, will improve your diet from a nutritional standpoint. This is good not only for your overall health, but also for your weight loss, as certain vitamin and mineral deficiencies can slow down the metabolism. You can check your vitamin and mineral intakes in FitDay, to see where you're at.

Your protein intake for Feb 22 was a little too high, but it looks good on Feb 21. As long as your average is good and you're losing weight, I wouldn't worry about it.

      I corrected that.
