  • Need a Legal Chocolate Dessert

    Hi All,

I am a few weeks into OWL. I really do not have any plans to move up the ladder anytime soon. I am comfortable with the 3 servings of veggies. I am not a big nuts/seed family and I cannot eat lots of dairy. But, I have added a 1/2 cup of strawberries with a meal a few nights a week. Most of my cravings are supressed; however I am a die hard chocoholic and looking for a legal chocolate dessert. I found a enticing recipe. Please look over the ingrediants I have listed and let me know if it is legal.

    Yummy Chocolate Balls

    cream cheese
    unsweetened cocoa power (my concern)
    cinnamon
    sea salt
    vanilla extract
    stevia
    sucralose
milk and egg protein (1 tlb - my concern)

I have also been making low carb crackers and cheese crackers. It has soy protein as one of the ingrediation. Yet, the net carbs are 0. Is is legal?

I may be wrong (and hopefully the more knowledgeable folks will chime in) but I think the cocoa is on the nut rung and the soy is on the legumes rung. So on OWL 1 neither would be legal for you right now.

Like I said though, I may be wrong.

So (and I think I have posted this before to you) you are not really following the OWL ladder. I am not sure that this is a good thing. You should try to try out the carb items one by one and not just choose things you like. There is a slippery slope opening up and you are heading right for it.
Before adding strawberries or anything make sure you eat your 3 cups of veggies Plus 5 net carb of veggies. It is better for you losing if you do that. If you do not want to eat nuts and dairy that is fine
But here is a recipe that uses nuts and dairy. And the point with trying them out one by one in OWL is to find out if you do well with them.

So on the dairy round you could try milk or cream cheese and see if that affected you.

And then on the nut rung you could try out cocoa and see how that affected you . And then finally if you were sure you did OK with both of them you could put them together in a recipe.

See there is a method to this madness
And rewards at the end - potentially

        Actually, they're not 0. If there's cheese, there's carbs.

You might try the truffles in the back of your DANDR.

Keep in mind that you don't "need" this dessert ... you "want" it.
