I'm craving hotdogs and not sure why......but Ocsar Mayer has new angus beef selects with no nitrates or nitrites added. Could someone please tell me if these are allowable during induction?

Here is the nutrition facts listed:

    calories 180
    total fat 16g
    sat fat 7g
    trans fat .5g
    cholest 35mg
    sodium 420mg
    total carbs 2g
    protein 6g

    thanks,

    Re: hot dogs

You need to check the list of ingredients, not just the nutritional panel. If any ingredients aren't on the list of foods acceptable for induction, then the product isn't allowed.

I think these are the ingredients of that product

Angus Beef, Water, Cultured Corn Sugar, Contains Less Than 2% Of Salt, Corn Syrup, Cultured Celery Juice, Vinegar, Sodium Phosphates, Cherry Powder, Lemon Juice Solids, Flavor, Extractives Of Paprika
      .

Looks like a lot of sweet stuff in them. Hotdogs would be tricky on this diet and something we should stay away from generally because of all the filler.
Maybe if you have to have it try hebrew national brand. They make hotdogs with less fillers. Not perfect but less.

        Re: hot dogs

I like Oscar Meyer hot dogs because they have less than 1gm of carbs per dog but I still limit myself to only one occasionally because it does list a sugar in the ingredients even though its very low on the list - its still there. You never know! However I love my cut up hot dog and cheese snack at night (finger food!) and not sure I could give that up, its replaced my potato chip or dessert habit quite nicely so in the scheme of things, I consider it worth it. It keeps me out of the sweets.

          Re: hot dogs

I eat Oscar Meyer all beef dogs on occasion. Sometimes my food budget is so low for my family I have to eat hot dogs. I have to be creative when I only have $25 to feed me and my 4 kids for a whole week.
