  • Consistantly gaining!

Think it would be a good idea to have some opinions on my menu as I've consistantly been gaining 1 lb per week since February - I've gone from 162 in a size 8 to 175 this morning in a size 12. Before reaching the 162 I struggled to get there from 169 over the course of a few months...never could get below 161 even with exercising. Thinking I need to to in to the doc...maybe something else going on?
    I am on Rung 1.

    Usual menu:
2 eggs with sausage patty or couple slices of bacon
Coffee w/ 1 tsp splenda & 1/2 Tbsp heavy cream

    Lunch:
1 1/2 cups salad w chopped up boiled egg, ham, .15 c shredded cheddar, 2 Tbsp ranch dressing
    OR
    1/2 C green beans w 2 oz cooked ground beef w/ .3 c spaghetti sauce (like a mock spaghetti)
    OR
2 hamburger patties w cheddar cheese, mayo, & lettuce

    Dinner:
Pork chop w 1/2 green beans (or asparagus or zucchini, etc) and side salad w ranch
    OR
Hamburger patties (like listed above for lunch)
    OR
Taco salad w lettuce, meat, .2 C cheese, sour cream, avocado

    Snacks:
    10 black olives
    1 oz mozzarella cheese
    1 or 2 boiled eggs
    Celery

    Water:
8 to 15 glasses per day

    Vitamins/supplements:
    multivitamin, calcium, magnesium, kelp

See anything out of whack? Thanks!

    Re: Consistantly gaining!

    hello Lindsay

Do you use fitday at all? You should put in everything you eat so you can clearly see how many carbs and how many calories you are eating. Also, do you exercise?

What type of sausage and spaghetti sauce do you use? They may have hidden carbs/sugar. I try to limit my intake of processed salty foods - it all depends on how your body processes them.

Input all into fitday and can you post what it comes up with?

I'm sure there are others who will see other things.

    Thanks!

      Re: Consistantly gaining!

I use Sparkpeople.com for my food journal. Right now I'm usually coming up around 25 net carbs per day.

I've tried to limit my tomato sauces for that same fear!

      Thanks for the feedback.

        Re: Consistantly gaining!

        Some things to think about:

Olives, sour cream, avocados are special category foods & stall some people (I'm not sure how often you have these)
Like Tracey said..check (re-check) any packaged foods for sugars/starches/excessive salt.
        Is your coffee decaf?
I'm not sure what you are having in your salads, but if they are mostly lettuce, you may not be getting enough veggie carbs/nutritious veggies...make sure that more than 1/2 of your daily carbs are from veggies.

And, just to beat a dead horse, are you drinking enough water?

I hope you are able to find what the issue is & start losing again! Best wishes,

EDIT - oops - I just saw the water bit at the bottom...sorry I missed that the first time!

How many calories are you taking in a day on average? How many grams of protein?

It is okay if it takes me a little longer to get there, besides this is where I'm going to stay forever and that is a really long time!!!

            Re: Consistantly gaining!

Menu looks pretty good but it's hard to tell without more specifics, like ounces, calories, percent of protein/fat/carbs. Also, is that ALL your are consuming? Soda? Alcohol?

Please don't take this the wrong way, but is there any chance that you could be pregnant? One member here long ago kept gaining despite doing everything right and found out she was. And that was with birth control!

You could also go back to the book for more details on what to do if you're stalled. Having a medical checkup for other factors (thyroid for example). Also any medications you are taking can interfere.
