Something a friend said today made me want to take a picture to compare. Apparently you can actually lose weight in your fingers.

Re: Apparently even your fingers look different!
Rybread,
Wow, your fingers are smaller! You know, I have noticed I have lost weight in some weird places too. I have noticed my wrists are smaller. I can put my thumb and pointerfinger around one now and I could not before. Odd how the body changes really. Oh, my DH's wedding band is loser after just 10 pounds, but he has lost a ton of swelling too.

This picture was taken in July 2004:

And these were taken today:

Here's what I said to her earlier:
There we go. I desperately need to get them resized. I have this uncomfortable plastic guard on the back of them right now so they don't fall off my finger. Without the guard, they just spin right around, and fly off if I shake my finger. Scary! 16 more pounds and then I'll take them in.
Heh!

Re: Apparently even your fingers look different!
Goodness, I hope so! My wedding band won't even come off anymore. They were talking about cutting it off during my last pregnancy because the swelling got so bad. Even not pregnant though, it's stuck there. Luckily, my finger seems permanantly deformed now, so underneath the band doesn't get fatter, just the rest of my finger does. The band still spins fine, it just won't come off. The day I can get my band off will be quite the day of celebration. (Not that I want it off, I just want to get rid of these sausages at the end of my hands!)
You have a very pretty hand. (Wow, that sounds kinda strange and creepy lol)F/26 5'6"

Re: Apparently even your fingers look different!
Let what happened to me be a lesson to all of you! If your rings start floating around on your fingers, either take them off, put up with the plastic size guard, or take them in to be resized...don't let it go long....or you'll be in the potty at work, having a quick wee before the store opens, and you'll hear a nice little *clink!* as your thumb ring drops off into the ...yes..into the toilet!
Thank goodness for copious amounts of antibacterial soap and a good sense of humour! I had to phone bf and tell him...it was pretty funny really.
Later that day the other ring I wear made it's way to the end of my finger as I handed something to someone. After my shift I went directly to the jewelry store and had them resized.
My bf comments all the time on how small my wrists have gotten as well. I wish my tummy lost weight as easily as my hands and wrists!!

You have gorgeous hands! I have had to take my rings off, as they started flying around as well.
I bought a temporary CZ monster to take its place though...

Re: Apparently even your fingers look different!
I have already sized my rings and bracelets twice, and looks like a third time will be coming up soon. The jewellery store thinks I'm nuts, but they are enjoying seeing me a bit thinner everytime I go there, and they are extremely encouraging! It's a fun place to go into, my DH bought me a diamond heart necklace for Christmas last year, and so I think they're looking forward to another purchase for me this Christmas. DH knows I love jewellery and it's always a winner with me!

Re: Apparently even your fingers look different!
You know, I would really love to just get them sized at the jeweller, especially because it would be free! But is it true that every time you do that, that its bad for the rings, that it makes them weaker, or something?Originally posted by cruiser galI have already sized my rings and bracelets twice, and looks like a third time will be coming up soon. Re: Apparently even your fingers look different!
I need my wedding rings sized, so they are in our lock box at the present time.
What I am scared aboutis this!!! What if the jeweler replaces my diamonds with fake ones. I remember seeing a story on 20/20 once. they showed how many jewelers would steal your valuable diamonds and replace them with cheap stones. So I am still undecided who to work on my wedding rings.
When we married almost 35 years ago my wedding rings were a size 6 1/2. After the birth of our daughter a year later I had the rings sized to a 8 1/2 size. Then at my fattest I had to have the rings made hugh, size 11. At the present time my finger is a size 8 1/2. But I still have another 20 pounds to lose. So I wait.
Wh knows maybe my diamonds have already been stolen in a previous re-sizing.!!

Re: Apparently even your fingers look different!
I just got my wedding band resized last week. It only cost $25.00 and it is so worth it. I'm sure I will have to do it again, but that is ok because it is like a little reward. My ring size has gone from a 6 1/2 to a 5 1/2. I have also gone from 8 1/2 shoe to an 8. That cracked me up because I didn't even know my feet were fat.Michele SW250/CW 226/GW150 F, 38, 5'6"
I was down to 175 in 2007 and I will get back there again!

Re: Apparently even your fingers look different!
Call around and find a jeweler that will size the rings in-house instead of shipping them out, and ask to watch them work. If they refuse, then find someone else. This is what my mom did when she had her diamond from her wedding ring put in a new setting.I need my wedding rings sized, so they are in our lock box at the present time.
