  • New to the Board, On Atkins, Day 23 -22/Male - Canada

    Hey, My name is Paul,

I have been doing the atkins diet now for 23 days, I have lost 13.5lbs, and I am feeling great about it.

I started at 199lbs, and I have shed down to 185.5. My Goal Weight I 170lbs. I am 5'10, and I like to be fairly active, I had shoulder surgery and Apendix removal at roughly the same time around 3 years ago, and have never been able to shed the weight, so glad that there are people out there to chat with about this.

Anyway, here is my photo as of today, I know its not a true "Before" picture, as I have already lost 13.5lbs But, It gets me started,

    Here goes.

Looking good to me! You are doing great! Keep up the good work.
I know recoup'ing from two major surgeries must be rough and the last thing you are thinking about at that time is proper nutrition and exercise. Way to go!

we look forward to watching you buff up, paul!
you got a teensy scar from the appendectomy. they cut myjack from below the bb to above the bb, probably a 5 or 6 inch cut. his had burst so they really had to get him open to clean him up.

you might want to introduce yourself in the introduction forum. it's always good to have another mail on the board. it's a good support system for the guys.

You don't have much work to do, considering you are already at a low body fat percentage. You'll be showing abs in about 2 months time.

          Hey guys and gals,

I really do appreciate all of the positive feedback, sometimes it seems like you have a long way to go, when really its only a bit of weight to lose.

I am now at 185. So, I am at what I'd like to call my "Pivot Point". Before I started working the desk job that I am at, I always was sitting at 185... It feels good to be back to it, as being 199lbs 3 1/2 weeks ago was just WAY to heavy for me.

My Goal is still around 170... I can't wait to see 184.5 on my digital scale, its incredibley inspiring.

Thanks again for all the support, Keep giving me advice, I love it!

          Paul.

                  Whats up?

Last night I made a BIG mistake. I got Drunk, and let me tell ya, drinking on Atkins has never felt worse.

I had done this diet years ago and had no problem with alcohol, But, I felt Horrid this morning.

Anyways, The good news is that Now I am @ 182.5lbs! So, I have beaten my pivot point. Its all down in weight from here.

Thanks again for the votes of confidence, People are now starting to notice my 16lbs of weight loss. Specially because I have only been on this diet for 4 weeks.

                          Yeeeehhhaa,

So, I totally cheated the other day, the bain of my diet "sour cream and onion chips" got the best of me.

I am still sitting at 181.5, which is excellent, but, I want to lose another 10lbs, I think I will go back onto induction to do that. And then .... I know I will get some flack about this.... I am going onto a high exercise, healthy food diet.

My opinion of the atkins diet is that it is a great quick way of losing weight, but, for me... its no lifestyle choice. Although, I understand and commend people that do chose it as one. Its not something I can keep up for the remainder of my life.

As far as a picture with my face in it goes, I will put one online, when I am not at work

                          Paul.

                              sorry to hear this, really.
atkins is not a quick fix. it's a healthy way to eat for life.
any "diet" you go on, i don't care what it is, will require exercise to do it properly. are you saying you have done nothing? that now you are going to do inductions again (which would be imho the wrong thing to do) and start exercising? something tells me, if you weren't doing before, you won't be doing it now. just an observation.
God speed with whatever you do. we'll be here with the light on if you choose to do atkins!
