              Hay girl, let me just say that my neighbor (5'8" 271lbs) just had gastric bypass surgery a couple of weeks ago. These days, apparently doctors seem to be performing these surgeries on anyone who is able to pay for it. She "tried" Atkins, but swore it "didn't work" and did the surgery. She now can eat a few tablespoons of food per meal, and must chew every bite until it loses it's flavor and has the consistency of applesauce.

              I can't congratulate you enough for taking these steps to change your life by being strong and learning how to feed yourself properly, without the easy shortcuts. And don't you worry about those cheats!! We'll all have birthday cake and pizza here and there throughout our life--the point of this WOE is to take control and learn how to eat RIGHT. You're doing it!

              Keep it up, you're looking GREAT.

                    Pigs- if I was 271 pounds, id be happier than a pig in... um, mud? lol! Thinking back, i think that put me in a size 24, because that's where I hovered most of my late teen years.. I agree that this gastric bypass thing is being abused.. I have a co worker that had it done and I can guess why drs dont hesitate to do it.. they are looking at a cool $24K procedure that I'm sure pads their pockets nicely.. My best friend is going through classes for GB and I would love to go with her and corner the nutritionist who told her "The Atkins diet is dangerous and is bad for your body.." My reply, had I been there, would have been "So, a risky, invasive procedure is not dangerous and/or bad for your body?" Nevermind that people run the risk of ripping their staples, restretching their stomach and then, when they need their skin removed, can get infections and what not.. As far as I know, the patients also get put on a type of low carb diet anyway.. It's baffling..
