Hi everyone. My name is Melanie, I'm 22 years old. I've been reading posts on this forum for about 9 months now, I think that you all have such inspirational stories. Everyone here is so dedicated. I really like how supportive everyone is of one another. The vibe here definitely gives me the courage to post my progress pictures.
I guess I have the typical college weight-gain story. I'm 5'5", used to weigh 110. Met my (now) husband, gained a bunch of weight within the following two years. I was having health issues (PCOS, I also have a condition called RSD in my right foot & ankle), so I ballooned. I know I shouldn't use the meds as an excuse, but they definitely did contribute to my weight gain.
We both work in EMS, so long shifts with lots of sitting and eating on the go. I was up to 167 in December of 2005. I did Weight Watchers for about 4 months and lost 15 lbs. I gained most of it back during the next year while planning our wedding. I tried Atkins for the first time in Novermber of 2006 and lost about 11 lbs in two weeks. School got busy and I found myself at 160 again. I did the induction phase and then slowly allowed myself a few carbs here and there. I can't even eat sugar anymore, the thought of candy makes me sick. I have since switched to a high-protein and fiber diet, right now I am stuck at 140 lbs. My biggest problem is that I like to have a couple glasses of wine on Saturdays during our "date" night, and I think that the sugars really throw me off. Ah well, such is the life of a low-carber.
Anywho, here is my week one and week four comparison. I still would like to drop down to 130, 125 being my unrealistic goal. Right now I run 5-8 miles a day and circuit train for approx. 2 hours 3 times a week.
The left is me @ 160 lbs, the right is @ 143 lbs
