Society's double standard. It's ok for a man to be overweight, at least MUCH more so than a woman. Look at how many chubby/fat guys get portrayed on TV with incredibly hot wives.

Funny you should say that. I actually took note of that yesterday. and most times, when they portray a -bad- wife, she is chubby and hateful. It's very frustrating.

I think using the jeans as an example is an excellent idea....my thoughts are exactly like the others...YOU will be in those in no time....

Re: New-to-me jeans I want to wear

I weigh every day, but don't worry too much about it. I don't have a scale that measure fractions of pounds though, that would do my head in.

This is how I look at it, and the pattern it tends to follow:

I go down a pound or two. Happy morning! But I expect that the next day or few days I'll see that weight go back on, then off again, the on again - maybe several times. I think of it as my body getting used to the idea of permanently giving up that pound or two, which takes time. It might take 2 days or 2 weeks for the next loss, but I know it's coming, it's just that my body has to work on adjusting and letting the previous couple of pounds go before it is ready to move on to the next.

Because I expect it to happen, and have a reasoning for why it does, it doesn't bother me in the least to see each little bit of weight loss come and go. I know that as long I do my part by eating on plan, in the long run the only way is down.

Re: New-to-me jeans I want to wear

Thanks BeautyBox! That same girl also gave me a size 15 M and I put them on last night and they easily buttoned up. I thought I was going to have a lot of "overhang" but I didn't! I can't wait to try the others on!

Kate. Thank you so much for your post. The more I do the diet and the more I read on the forum, it helps me to understand that "weight loss isn't linear" lol. I guess with me just starting (again) it affects me more. I have so much emotion tied into eating. Perhaps when I get stronger (and smaller) I will be able to control myself better. Oh! And congratulations on being in onderland!!! I hope to be there by the next time I weigh at the end of February.

                  I GOT THEM BUTTONED TODAY!

                  But not zipped... lol

I couldn't even get the button close to the hole when I first tried them on. I have until the end of February when I want to be able to stand up while buttoning and zipping them.

Woo hoo! I am joining the next muffin butt challenge with those jeans!

Snaps! I was hoping it meant slim or something. Short works too. At least if they look good when I get into them I know where to go buy jeans. I am an absolute horrible shopper. I keep saying I am not going to buy anything really nice because I am overweight and I end up buying what is cheapest. I really need to learn how to shop.
