  • finally some success!

    hellooo...

It's time I wrote a note on here. I knew it was time because I got an email from the board operators encouraging me to post my progress!!
It was quite awhile ago that I first registered on here.. I was 178ish at the time (I'm only 5'4") and I tried to do a "modified" Atkins.
Ha. Big mistake.... I was thinking that I could count calories and also be mindful while eating the lower carb breads etc. Again, Ha.
So by the time Christmas holidays were over I was 180. While I was away visiting my folks and meeting my brand new niece, my Mom had to be hospitalized. Instead of reverting to comfort eating to deal with the sadness (here comes the amazing part) I started back on Atkins... taking long walks and even doing situps. It helped my mental health, it helped me feel like I had some kind of control, it released me from that awful feeling from overeating. So guess what? I am down to 169. I am the boss now. Not food.
My Mom is doing better by the way... she is amazing.
Many thanks to all you brave people on here who post your stories, struggles and pictures of your journey, it sure helped.
    p.s.
I can't find a current pic... just this before... hope it works.

    Re: finally some success!

Hi. Glad you posted and reminded everyone how Atkins makes us feel better and gain control over our actions. I'm glad you pointed out how EXERCISE made you feel better than comfort eating. Its all in how we deal with our obstacles that we face - and I'm glad you are in control and your mom is doing better. Hope you decide to come here often and post and make friends, it makes the journey much easier and fun. Best wishes!

I agree. I'm restarting for the upteenth time and I, too, thought I'd try to do the count calories/lower carbs and I just overstressed myself so this time I'm doing it right. Its nice to feel like I own myself, not the candy aisle.

Congrats on your progress so far!!!
