  • Ladies, don't you worry about posting pics?

OK, let me start off by saying I am not some pervy guy. But I have looked at MANY pics of folks on this site, and not just ladies. What caught me off guard is the number of women posting pics in their underwear.

Doesn't this scare any of you? ( I guess not, since you posted them ).... even me, a 300 pound guy has concerns, but not really security concerns. Mine are more along the lines of whether someone would capture the image of me and do something I wouldn't appreciate with it.

Anyway, I DO APPRECIATE having all the pictures posted. They are quite motivational!

I hope to have my wife take some of me, and I'll post them, without my head on them until I feel comfortable enough with myself to post a whole body picture.... which, trust me, I don't even think my wife wants to see!

Good post Papa Deuce. It is good to be cautious on the internet. I actually know of a situation where a women lost a huge amount of weight and had posted her before and after pictures on her own website. Now, they have been captured and are all over the web serving as banners for weight loss drugs and berries (not posted by her). She lost weight naturally with no diets or pills and she is having a hard time finding the source and having her pictures removed. It is like 'identity theft' but with photos. They even change her name to different names in different banners. I guess it can happen to anyone, but definitely on a site like this - I wouldn't be suprised if people capture before and after to sell weight loss, so why wouldn't they do it for other purposes as well.

I would probably be flattered when I get to my goal weight and someone swiped my pics. Of course, I am fully clothed and will remain that way! I am just a very modest person, intenet or no internet.

While I agree with the premise, the truth is that it doesn't necessarily matter if you're taking pics in a bathing suit, undies, shorts, or fully clothed- it happens regardless. It's happened to me twice, and you're not going to find a picture of me that isn't either in workout gear or fully clothes.

I could live in fear of it happening again and take down my website and remove all the pics from my favorite boards, but I'm not going to. Does it make me more cautious about what I post? Absolutely. Will it stop me? Not a chance.

I am ok posting pics of myself.. Not that I like what I look like now at all.. But.. I am ok with it. I do understand motivation behind it for others. Which is awesome. I personally would Never do one in a bathing suit or naked or in undies.. But that is just me.

Thanks for posting your concerns Papa Deuce.
It's always good to be reminded of what a scary place the internet can be, and, although I think most people who post in this forum make the decision of "how to appear in their pics" with their eyes open, there are still a few people who are very naive and trusting, or who simply are not aware of what can happen.

I'll reiterate Papa's caution: Be aware people!

Re: Ladies, don't you worry about posting pics?

One of the reasons I post pics is because I want people to know I'm the "real deal."

I've worked hard to get where I am today. I want people to know it works. I want people to know that I'm not full of BS. I have posted pictures in sports bra/shorts, and bikini photos. They are NOT titillating in any way, shape or form. They are not intended to be erotic, risque, or sexy. I post them because in full clothing, you CAN'T see my problem area--my stomach. By posting these pictures, I'm able to see subtle differences in the size of my stomach, smoothness of the skin, and firmness. I post them in my journal so others can see, too--so someone else can benefit from the experiences I've had. And it's also important to show others that I'm always a work in progress, the work NEVER stops.

On the other side of the argument, I'm always suspicious of those who NEVER post a single picture. (I'm not talking about full body shots in skivvies, I mean, those who never show what they look like or what their progress has been. Some people never even have an avatar pic or never post ANYTHING.) I always wonder if they're just trolling, or posing, or whatnot. Kimmer (of the Kimkins fame and debacle) never posted a picture of herself...and we all know why!

Just an FYI to those with websites: You can disable the right click ability on pictures. However, I've been able to copy pics that are 'un-right-clickable' by using ctrl-c and pasting them in editing software. It might help if less- than-computer-savvy people try to steal your pics. And no, I don't know the disable coding, but I'm sure it's on an HTML help site somewhere. Not sure if it can be disabled on the board or not.

Re: Ladies, don't you worry about posting pics?

I can see the concerns, but I think Julie is right about how bikini or sports bra/shorts photos can show the finer details that you might be talking about.

I have done it, but headless if it's a bikini. I guess I just don't mind too much.

I think this site is great in that people don't feel pressured to post pictures in any format. It's good to be able to see results and be inspired. Also to recieve feedback on your pictures is so great, particularly if you can't see the different in yourself all the time.

Re: Ladies, don't you worry about posting pics?

I have posted my pictures in work out gear. If I did a bikini, which I will when I lose my weight...I will cut my head.

But I can see the concern and understand it. It's up the persons comfort level and full understanding of what could be done if someone was wanting to steal their pics.

I love the before and after section!! It gives me hope and drive to keep on going.

Re: Ladies, don't you worry about posting pics?

Well, me being one of the ones posting pics of me in my underwear, I can honestly say that YES, it does worry me to a certain extent. But I don't have any other personal info on this site so the fact that there may be some perv getting off to my fat pictures is just something that I am willing to deal with, especially if I am motivating other people, which is what this site is for. But I have decided to take pictures in just a tight spaghetti-strap shirt and tight pj pants from now on. I just don't think normal clothes justify the human figure enough as being in your underwear may show. But that's just me

Can't you just place some words accross it so if some one wants to use it it will always have a stamp on it?

My daughter uses the paint feature on her computer and inserts captions etc on her pics then saves them and upload them to photobucket etc.

It will be a long time before I would consider the underwear or bikini pics. I am too modest. Although there may be a day that I want to show off a sexy body- even then it would probably be wearing shorts and a sports bra.
