  • Lets try this again..

Well I have tried Atkins so many times but never with any conviction. Since I have gained so much weight I am tired all the time, I have high blood pressure, and get dizzy playing with my son. My son is only 15 months old.. time for me to get in shape! I have too much on the line here to be playing around anymore. It's time for a serious change. Looking at these forums are so inspirational! I hope I can stay on track this time.

So these are my before pictures. I'm on my third day of Atkins and have already lost 4 pounds. WoW. (Is that healthy?) This is me at 231-227

    Good luck to me!

That's normal to lose that much the first few days, especially if you're prone to retaining water. I usually lose 10lbs the first week I go on Atkins. All that fluid retention just drops off.

Good luck to you! I'm on my 5th time restarting. I have the motivation. I have the reasons...just got to stick with it.

Welcome back to Atkins. You are correct that you have too much on the line to keep going with a high weight and the high blood pressure and fatigue that comes with it. You owe it to your son to get healthy to be there for him as he grows up. You will feel so much better and will have so much more energy to keep up with a little whirlwind that is your toddler. You will have more patience to deal with the Terrible Twos that are coming soon! Just the additional B-12 that you get only from eating meat will soothe your mood and help you get quality sleep.

That much weight loss in the first few days is okay. It will slow down after you have let go of the water need to metabolize carbohydrates. Be sure to drink plenty of water and take supplements of potassium and magnesium so you don't get leg cramps and have fatigue from an electrolyte imbalance.
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.
