    Hello everyone!
    I'm trying Atkins since I failed everything else or pretty much starved myself to the point where I thought I'd go crazy. Been on Atkins for about 5 days, and it's amazing how nice it is to eat and actually be full afterwards!

    I used to do the Weight Watchers diet before, but since it made me even more hungry and constantly thinking about food, I'm giving Atkins a go.
    I live in Sweden, where the Atkins-diet is pretty unusual, even though there is something similar called LowCarbHighFat. I think the main difference is that LCHF doesn't require that you eat a bit more of carbs later on, you could simply cut them out as much as possible for as long as you want to.

    My weight right now is 165 lbs and I'm 5'6.
    My goal is to be at 130-132 lbs.
    I'm 22 years old.
    (Lost about 10 pounds with WW, but it took such long time that I eventually gave up)







    This forum is such an inspiration and I hope to do well with this diet

    welcome Precious!! Glad you found your way to ADBB and have decided to make a change in your health. I hope you will purchase the Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution book (www.half.com has them for a small amount) so you know what you are doing and understand the science behind the plan. Many of us use www.Fitday.com to track our net carb food intake daily - it's a free program.

    Go to the induction forum and read the stickies to get started until you can get a book. Here are some links and useful information to help for now.

    Make sure the only food you eat during induction is on the acceptable food list (below) -- drink at least 64 ounce of pure water daily (nothing added) and start exercising today! Good luck on your journey.

    Exercise is not an option – it is mandatory ….. don’t say you can’t find a way and start today!

    Atkins bars and shakes are NOT acceptable during induction – they are made with non-induction ingredients and cause stalling in many people. Just remember - if it’s not on the acceptable food list – it doesn’t go in your mouth!

    This is from the "Read before you start" thread in the 14 day Induction area:
    Drink a minimum of 64 ounces of water each day, including:
    Filtered water
    Mineral water
    Spring water
    Tap water

    After your 64 ounces daily you can have the following:
    Clear broth/bouillon (not all brands; read the label)
    Club soda
    Cream, heavy or light (limit to two to three Tablespoons a day; note carb content)
    Decaffeinated coffee or tea*
    Diet soda made with sucralose (Splenda); be sure to count the carbs (may cause a stall in weight loss)
    Essence-flavored seltzer (must say "no calories" and should not contain aspartame)
    Herb tea (without barley or any fruit sugar added)
    Lemon juice or lime juice (note that each contains 2.8 grams carbohydrate per ounce); limit to two to three Tablespoons

    *Excessive caffeine may cause unstable blood sugar and should be avoided by those who suspect they are caffeine dependent. Everyone should try to avoid caffeine.

      I've ordered the Atkins book and should get it on Tuesday or Wednesday. Looking forward to it

      Went to the gym and joined an excercise-class, 45 minutes.
      Felt good to get this body moving!

      Going to weight myself on Wednesday, I'll post the results afterward.
