    Welcome to the Atkins Board.

Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise starting today and take a multi-vitamin. If you haven't already, read the 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR). Many of the challenges will be starting the first of the month, look around to see if there are any that interest you.

Eat ONLY the foods on the acceptable food list. If a food isn't on the acceptable food list you shouldn't be eating it until you are on that Rung of the plan.
(What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html. You'll find wonderful recipes here: just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with. Vary your meals so you don't get tired of eating the same thing over and over -- we have too many choices for that to happen.

      Re: New Here ...

You'll do great. I started Atkins 6 days ago, and I've lost 9 pounds so far. I have a goal of losing 96 pounds, so I've got a ways to go. Some of the things that have helped me stay motivated and excited about the process are:
      1. The Recipes: Follow the link that Carole posted above. I've got some great ones that I've tried, let me know if you ever want me to forward them to you.
      2. Join the Challenges: I've joined the water challenge and the biggest loser challenge. They help to keep you accountable while 'forcing' you to do things (like drinking water) that one may not do enough of.
      3. Visit the site Daily: Looking at the before & after pictures and reading the success and mishaps that others are going through is daily motivation.

We can all do it, if we prepare and persevere. I'm cheering you on as you move towards the finish line. Don't Give Up!

            Hiya and welcome!
If you look at the thread list for this forum, there's a good sticky explaining how to post pics.
I use photobucket and find it works well.

I was in the same place as you are this time last year, I've always grew up being heavy, it just runs in the family, but you can do it. You will get wonderful support here on this site, just keep you head up and stay strong and you will soon see a difference.

                  Re: New Here ...

We are the same height and similar goal weight (though I started a little higher). You can do it and the support here is wonderful! I also use photobucket for images. It's free and easy to use. Once you upload the photos, you can click on your image to get the code that you would insert into the message.

Good luck with your weightloss, you are off to a good start!

                    Re: New Here ...

Thanks much for the encouraging words ... this is a great challenge for me to change the way I eat compared to what I used to.

Today is officially my first full week on Atkins and so far I have lost 5 pounds ( give or take ) ... lol Hopefully that is a good pace . I seem to think I am resistant.

                    ON TO WEEK TWOOOOOO

you're doing just fine. I think the first 2 weeks I only lost 7lbs total. It was very slow (or so I thought). I lose about a pound a week now, being about 9 months in to it. Just drink your water, take your vitamins, and keep moving and things will be fine.
