  • TOMATO!

So I look at the nutrition facts for tomato sauces.

I head from someone that HUNT's works well because there is no sugar added. It is not listed in the ingredients.

Does anybody have a clue why it says in the nutrition facts sugars 2g?

Don't forget that sugar can come from natural foods. Because the tomato has seeds, it is "technically" a fruit (although no one's ever given a straight answer on this), so it would have more natural sugars than say, broccoli. When the tomato is condensed down like it is in sauce, you get a higher carb count.

I could be wrong, but that's my guess.

all the sugar in the nutritonal label means is that that many grams of simple sugar is present in the food. All veggies and fruits have simple sugars complex carbs and fibers in them just in different amounts. the sugars Dr Atkins warns us about are the ones in the ingredients labels.

Count your total carbs and stay inside your veggie limits as you make your sauces and you will be fine. Hunts is a good product.
