    :fish

I was wondering if any other women out there have had this experience, I have never come across this in any of the atkins books.

All my life [except for when I was on the birth control pill], I have had irregular menstral cycles, the odd time might be two weeks apart but most of the time I would only get my period every three or four months.

As soon as I went on the Atkins diet in June of 2000 my periods have been like clock work [every 28 to 30 days apart]. Even though I have strayed on and off the diet, being on the diet most days scince then, my period has been regular for 5 years now.

Has anyone else out there experienced this? I think that maybe my insulin production was affecting my hormones.

When you burn fat the estrogen stored in the fat cells is released into your bloodstream. For a woman who is regular that can mean crazy cycles. For me who has always had very irregular heavy bleeding, it seems to regulate. I am now in an exact 28 day cycle.

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

It should do, go to the usergroups link at the top of the screen (next to search), and apply to join group.

All you need to do is put a "F" or "female" in your sig and you should be given access by the Female forum mod.

            I hope this helps.

Funny how this WOE affects the cycle. I was definitely pre-menopausal before Atkins, and getting like three month gaps between periods and then two periods in a month... that sort of thing.

As soon as I started Atkins I got a period, and have been really quite regular ever since (four months now). Would have been nice to have been shot of the cycle for once and for all, but have to say, I do feel I've been 'rejuvenated' somehow!

I've been irregular forever, and Day 1 of Atkins, was Day 1 of TOM. Ever since then I have been freakishly regular. It's spooky how regular I am. And my skin cleared right up within the first month as well.

Umm, I'm the opposite...my tom does not show anymore :yikes, well
not for 7 weeks. I was regular as clockwork then as soon as I started back on atkins, they have bitten the dust. Done the checks, not pregnant and not pre menopausal, just the estrogen change I suppose.

Sally, I don't mean to be nosy, but perhaps you are underweight now, since your weight is now 12 lbs below the ideal weight for a small-framed woman.

Just a thought, please don't be mad at me!

                          Hi G-Mom :wave

Thanks for your message, no way would I be mad
                          at someone providing support.

I have always hit issues with the ideal weight tables,
I don't look underweight, my family are always quick
to tell me if I am and my partner hates it.

If I go a couple of pounds less it's too much, I really
think it's my body losing weight and the hormones etc.

                          Many thanks

My whole life, until low carb the 1st time in March 2003, I was like clockwork: every 27 days and 18 hours (I kid you not). But since the new WOE, the timing has chaned a little, though not overly much. Howver, since the new WOE, the cramps have SERIOUSLY diminished --- don't know what hormones affect those, but I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth! lol
