  • 2005 Induction Menu Plan and Energy Bars

    :confused ,

If you have ever seen the new induction plan than you already know that certain foods such as bread and tortillas (low carb or not) were unacceptable until now. I just want to post this as a new topic to get your opinions on it. Has anyone even tried the 2005 induction?

Second, I heard the new All in One energy bars by dexatrim were delicious. The bars supposedly contain 1 net gram of carb per bar if you subtract the fiber and sugar alcohols. For all you ANA buffs, are these bars really detrimental to this WOE? I read the label and from what I can tell, the bar doesn't seem all too bad and am considering trying one. What do you guys think?

I'm wary about the 'new' induction plans put out by Atkins Nutritionals and here at ha we give advice based on the 2002 edition of Dr. Atkins book because it was the last book he wrote. Many of us feel that Atkins Nutritionals is now more about marketing and selling products than Dr Atkin's program. So, we stick by if it's not on the acceptable food list, don't eat it.

I don't know anything about those bars either. I do know that sugar alcohols stall many people and cause some gastro-intestinal upset for others. We advise not using any 'frankenfood' such as bars and shakes for your two week induction period. Also, it's not just the carb count on foods, but the ingredients. For example, if those bars contain nuts, they wouldn't be acceptable until that rung on OWL. That's my opinion anyways!

The best results have come from people who stick to a clean induction and eat only what's on the acceptable foods list. The bars and other frankenfoods have caused alot of problems for the majority of us. There are some people that seem to be able to lose eating this stuff but I would recommend you try to do a clean induction then you could add in some of the other things like nuts when you move into OWL.

The "NEW" plan is ANA's attempt to peddle their goods. They couldn't care less if you lose weight; only that their pockets are padded.

Read and follow the 2002 version of DANDR (written by the doctor himself) and you'll do MUCH BETTER.

Avoiding processed foods (low carb or not) is the absolute KEY to success.

Thank you all for your opinions on this. I agree that Atkins Nutritionals seem to be promoting their products more than promoting the doctor's intended way of doing this WOE. ha rocks!

I warn you..........sugar alcohol will stall........... I speak from experience. My last two Atkins WOL attempts were unsuccessful. I ate the sugar alcohols too much! Once you eat one bar, your body wants a second.... The sugar cravings come back and my weight loss slowed down!
