That's hard to answer. It depends on so many things. The only thing I would say is there is one way to find out. Whether you can weigh 120 or not if you try you will surely be a lot closer than you are now.

    Good luck!

Yes, it's very possible. But you must follow the plan as the doctor wrote it. I believe you can do it! :hug

Yes you can do it :yes
I started with a similar amount to lose and am now less than 35 pounds from my initial goal - and even thinking I might set a lower one when I get there :yikes
So take it day by day (even meal by meal if it gets tough going) and you WILL do it :hug
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Hi Smile_21! What an excellent screen name and quite fitting, for one, you ought to Smile very big, because you have found the answer to your prayers. This WOL(way of life) WILL slim you if you let it. What I mean is, if you follow it to a "T" you will be successful.

Another reason to smile is your age. You are young and that is advantageous. You may lose somewhat faster and easier than someone twice your age.

You say you have been overweight your entire life. My biggest concern for you is that you have family support. Oftentimes, if a person is overweight their entire life, so is his/her family and food is a huge part of family get-togethers. If this is true of you, you need to ask your family for support and to tell them not to shove a slice of cake at you at every visit. This will help a lot! I could be way off, but this is usually the case, so I thought I would mention it.

You can do this WOE, and you can become slimmer. Just remember this: You can be this weight this time next year, heavier, or several pounds lighter and feeling really, really good! Which one do you want for yourself?

It's very possible. Although I was a little less than you at my start weight, I had been obese all my life. I never in a million years thought I would get this far...but here I am! I've surpassed my goal weight 3 times now....going lower and lower as the pounds kept dropping. I'm on my last 6 pounds, and while its slow going, I'm losing inches....so with all my heart-it is VERY possible!!!

Good luck and welcome to the board!!!

I know a lady who is about your height and she told me her ideal weight is 100-110, so shooting for 120 is a really good number. Just see how you feel when you get close to that and see if you want to stay around 120 or lose more...it is all in how you see your self. Also, ask yourself this question if you every get tempted to stray, "Is this bad food I am putting in my mouth worth the 10 seconds of enjoyment?" That question helps me a lot!

              Good luck and be strong!

How committed are you? If you're not 100% committed, then I have bad news ... if you are 100% committed, then ANYTHING is possible!! Atkins is a very empowering way to lose weight, but you MUST exercise to keep it off.

I initially wanted to lose 15 pounds and ended up losing 38. Why? Because I started a strict and regular exercise plan the day I started Atkins.

Its all about choices. You decide what you want. What the mind believes, the body will achieve.

Look at my stats. It is totally possibly. I didn't weigh the first week so I am not sure what I weighed. I started weighing at 220 pounds. I stopped atkins and started again. Didn't gain anything.

I think that if you really want it you can do it for sure, just set little goals at the time, don't only look at that goalweight.
It only seems so far off cause you have been carrying all that weight with you for so long, once you are starting to lose some weight with this WOE you are starting to believe for real you can do it and believe me, it feels so goooooooooooood
:hug you can do it :hug

you know i had the same worry. I have been overweight my entire life, i lie, i was thin in highschool for about 1 minute. Anyway, when i started this WOL i started with a half-a** idea of it maybe working for me. Now I am down 35 pounds and I believe i can reach my goal. I heard something here that really helps me when times get rough, "nothing tastes as good as being thin feels", just remember this when your getting descouraged.

(Sorry that i can not give credit to the person who posted this, i can't remember exactly where i got it)

Anything is truly possibly..if you work hard enough and want it bad enough.

I never thought I could go from a size 18/20 to a size 2/4 in 8 months. I worked/working very hard and excised everyday, and I have never been more pleased.

                            You can do it!

Oh yes, I'd say it's possible! Make sure to clear your personal goal weight with your physician - and if he gives you the okay, go for it full throttle!

When I first began losing at a size 8-10 & 141 pounds, I thought 130 would be my goal. Keep it realistic. At 130, I went further. At 125, I still had work to do - but still thought that size 0 & 2 girls (what I am now) were all anorexic with no personalities. lol Even though I am only 5'3" (barely) and my ideal weight is anywhere between 105-120 pounds, I told myself at first that I was big-boned and that 130's was good enough. Turns out I'm at the larger side of small-boned and was kidding myself - I just didn't think "fashionably thin" would ever be possible for me and used sour grapes as a coping mechanism.

Well, once I hit the big 119 in 2001, I FLIPPED OUT. I remember calling my sister in L.A. on my cellphone on my way to class the morning I hit the one-teens. I was a "skinny-girl weight" & a size 4-6!

But still - and I bet this will happen to you - I set my sites higher and realized that my former, very modest just-being-thinner-than-I-was goal simply wasn't good enough for me. Once you realize your weight loss dream actually can be done, BOOM. There go all the cobwebs and hurdles. Close your eyes, visualize what you want, make your plans, and make it happen. You CAN do it!! :hug
