Well, there is a pretty big difference between Bud Lite with 6+ grams of carbs and Michelob ultra with 2.7 grams. You have a couple and the carbs really add up.

I'm actually a Miller Lite gal, myself. Well, actually, I'm a Foster's gal, but since I can't have that, Miller Lite it is. But I don't mind Michelob Ultra either, so if you don't like Lite, then don't do Ultra, they are pretty similar.

Do you guys remember when Budweiser came out with that slogen, "all light beers are low in carbs..." or something, well they failed to post what budlight contains, after doing some quick research i found out that they didn't include this because one beer has 6.6 carbs. I mean when your comparing the others that are around 2 carbs per beer 6.6 is quite a lot of difference.

here's a link to an article about it, and an awesome comparison chart of all the light beers, http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art14302.asp

Hey barb...I used to be a beer drinker too and have pretty much gone off it! I now also drink Mike's Light also...LOL. I do drink liquor once in a whiule but find hte coolers easier since they're premeasured. I tend to get a little generous when pouring liquor.. :yikes Wonder why our taste has change like that??? I used to LOVE my beer.

We don't get the same low cbar beers here that you do but we do have ones with the same carb counts. I've tried them and they're pretty good. The only complaint I have is they tend to get a little 'flat' when you get to the end of the bottle..moreso then regular beer.
Funny I was looking into the Mike's site last week. I don't see any ingredients listed on the bottle or the 6 pack. I emailed them to ask them for ingredients list, still havent' heard from them....

captain morgan's has 0.4 carbs for 1 1/2 ounces.
As for the beer miller lite and ultra are similar. Budweiser select is pretty good. I think it is 3 carbs or something. All lite beers are lacking but I make do since I can't have my Murphy's!

The ingredients are listed on the boxes we get up here..they are:

Carbonated Water, Vodka, citric acid, lemon juice, natural flavours, sodium citrate, potassium sorbate, ascorbic acid, aspartame, acesulfame-potassium, potassium metabisulfite (try to say that after you drink 4 bottles :yikes ) sucralose.

Per 330 mls:

calories 76
carbs 1
fat 0
protein 0

I'm sure your ingredients are the same.

that's funny they don't come in 6 packs here..only 4 packs,

Thanks Sadie!!
What do you pay for a 4 pack? It's about $7 for a 6 pack here.

Usually 8.40 cdn for 4 (that's about 6.75 us) though they're a dollar off right now. Funny that they're cheaper there....i believe they're acutally made in Canada and exported to the us?

My hubby walked into the house this a.m. while i was typing that note earlier and wanted to know why i was sitting with a 4pack of Mikes on my lap at 8 a.m.

I told him it's thursday, i'm just getting a head start to the weekend LOL.

Bacardi Silver Low Carb???

We went to Grant's Farm last week and you get 2 free drinks. They had Low Carb Green Apple which was ummmmmm!!!! I was wrestling a cranky 2 yr old, so I didnt take time to ask any info of the bartender (they pour it out in glasses for you-you can't have it in the bottle at the beer garden). Anyone know anything about 'em? It was mighty tasty, but I'm just wondering for the future as I now HAVE to go back on a strict induction after totalling blowing the last 10 days!!! Mike's Hard Lemonade sounds yummy too---have to think about that in a few weeks!

Exactly!!!! Jolly Rancher Green Apple is exactly what it tastes like! Yummy yummy! You don't by any chance know how many carbs it has, do ya? I have to put myself on strict induction for a few weeks, so none for me for a while, but I'd love to know if thats something reasonable I can have later on. I wasn't able to get ahold of the nutritional info, but would love to know! I tried to find the info at www.bacardisilver.com, but no luck.....

Boy am i glad to know that i'm not the only drinker around here. I think the way to be successful with this WOL is to find a way to incorporate your new eating styles into your way of life. Before I started atkins I was a social drinker, now that i've been on it for 5 months i have really been missing an occasional drink here and there. Thank goodness i am not alone on this.

I wonder if they sell those Bacardy green apple drinks in Houston, definatly sounds interresting. I used to love green jolly ranchers as a kid.

Why not tuck into a nice glass of red?

If LC beers are kind of icky and fake why not have some red wine instead?

I find it is so much more enjoyable in social situations as its so nice to share, you don't get that gross beer bloat, it tastes a thousand times better and has a stack of health benefits.

Normally, an entire bottle is < 5g carb (around 4.7g).

I usually have one to two glasses per day and it desn't seem to slow me down.

If you are having a steak, why not have a big shiraz or cab sav?

Australian of course! :icondance
