  • I think I'm ready-

Got the green light from my doctor yesterday, so now I'm all set to start the induction tomorrow.

Just one question, how in the heck do I make up a shopping list for this?? I went to print out that wallet size card, but it came out blurry, so I can't use that.

How do you make your lists??

My staples when I go to the store:

      eggs
      cheese (shredded, slices, and string)
      lunch meat
      canned tuna
other meats (steaks, chicken, pork, etc...depending on what's on sale)
      lettuce
      broccoli
      cucumbers
      celery
      pork rinds

I may add in some other veggies or possibly bacon depending on my mood.

If this is your first trip to the store you may also need:

      butter
      olive oil
      spices
      mayo
salad dressing (you don't need the special low carb brands...just check the label)

I just photocopied the acceptable food list in the book and circled the things I wanted to pick up. That way I had the whole list with me in case I spotted something else that looked good and wanted to be able to see if it was o.k. on Atkins or not.

I carried a photcopied list of the acceptable foods in my purse for months until I learned them by heart! Made shopping easier.

Also, be prepared to take longer than normal at the store, You need to read all the labels on everything you buy, that means nutritional information and ingredients. Don’t wait til you get home to discover that something you purchased isn’t acceptable because its either not on the list or has something unacceptable in it like transfats or sugar!!!!!

I buy lots of dark green leafy veggies, especially good lettuce like green leaf, red leaf and romaine. I leave the iceberg alone.

I also like to buy a lot of frozen veggies. They keep longer and are just as nutritious as fresh.

I printed out the acceptable foods list from the website
and took it with me to the store and picked what I liked.

I had the book infront of me, and starting writing a list on paper, of all things I liked to eat, then off to the grocery store I went, with my induction friendly list. I bought only what was on the list, no impulse shopping!

I did the same when starting out. As time went on, I'd try new things from the lists.
