  • Upping Calorie Intake?

I have entered my food intake into fitday off and on, mostly off.

I was reading the sticky on BMR and I don't think I'm getting enough calories each day, but I swear if I eat another bite most days, I'm gonna puke! :sadblinky

Today's total was 1518 calories, with 69% fat, 8% carbs, 23% protein. And this is the week leading up to TOM, so you'd think I'd want to eat the house and everything in it, but nope!

What's a person supposed to do when they just can't stomach enough food to meet the calorie requirement, and stay within their daily carb range? Food suggestions? Ideas? BTW, I'm on what I guess you could call a modified OWL, working to stay between 20-30 net carbs a day.

    Thanks for any insights!

Fats are higher in calories, try using more butter, mayo etc. cheese is a high calorie food as well (100 cals per ounce) though be sure to stay within your daily limits. If you are at the nut rung on OWL nuts are very high calorie as well.

I agree with sadie, fats are higher in calories. 1 tablespoon of butter or olive oil has 100 calories (and it's not a huge amount).

Also what phase of Atkins are you in? Your protein is alittle low.

I guess you could say I've been doing a modified OWL. I say that because I had the 1990s version of Atkins and there was no mention of the Rungs, so after 4 weeks on Induction, I added more veggies, strawberries and nuts to my diet, although not daily. I try to keep my net carbs each day between 20-30 grams.

My Walmart was out of the newer DANDR, but I bought the Atkins For Life book and just finished reading it.

Read through the stickies in the OWL forum. As you add carbs, your fat % is supposed to decrease slightly.

Just wanted to reiterate that point. Your protein levels should remain at around 30%.
