Hi everyone. I thought I had better introduce myself to everyone. I have been lurking around here the last few days reading the advice and seeing how successful everyone is on the board. Anywho, my name is Kristina and I currently live in Louisiana, but as of July 1 will be moving to Tacoma,Wa. I used to be in the Army from June 2001 to August 2003 at which time I was discharged due to a back injury. I have two beautiful little girls, Shontavia 16 months and Kaylanna 1 month. My husband is in the Army. I am also a full time student studying Criminal Justice and if I want to be a police officer or anything along those lines I thought I'd better loose this weight.
Prior to becoming pregnant with my first daughter, I was about 15 pounds overweight at 185 lbs (I am 5'9), however; my bmi was only 24 percent. I gained about 75 pounds during that pregnancy mainly because my husband was deployed which led to my being depressed and sad all the time which led to me eating poorly. So I went on Atkins last summer to try to lose some of that excess weight. I lost about 20lbs in the first 10 ten days but then we went on vacation to Cancun and gained some of it back.
Shortly after we returned from Mexico, I restarted my diet and lost 15 lbs again. I was doing so well and then what happens? I find out I am pregnant and the doctor said not restrict my carbs but to eat well. Well this time around I barely gained 20 lbs and lost all of the second pregnancy's weight gain. So I really need to do Atkins, because I believe it will help me lead a healthy life and set an example for my daughters.
I tend to get discouraged with people and their negative attitude towards my dieting and wants of weight loss. My mother criticizes me and says that I will never get back to my original weight let alone under that, so I am going to show her! :nod
I look forward to getting to know everyone as you all seem to have formed such nice friendships and chains of support. I will need a lot of help, since my husband eats a lot of junk foods there is always temptations in the house. I just look forward to weighing less than him. He's 6'6 and 200 lbs (a little skinnier than I like him to be). Anyways, thanks for the support that should come in the near future.
