ANNOUNCEMENT: New Board goes live Friday, July 1st!

We will be going live on the new board next Friday. The board itself will shut down sometime late Thursday and we anticipate being down all day Friday and part of Saturday while the data is transferred. Our moderators did a fantastic job of culling down the forums before the move to help decrease the amount of down-time we will have.

I appreciate your patience while we move to the new system. I think you are going to be very pleased with all the features of the new board.

Yes, the PMs will not be moved to the new board. Any PMs you have you need to save locally.

We are bringing all the smilies over. I do not anticipate having them all functional on Saturday the 2nd, but they will be brought over. It took a manual edit of each file on the test board, so it just took a little time, but they did make it over.

Also, we will likely be adding some new smilies too.

Yes, as I understand you will log on the same old way but will get the board. You will use the same screen name and password.

Well its looks very pretty, and I am sure a lot of work and commitment has gone into the change, but I reserve judgement.

I subscribe to a number of boards on a number of subjects and I always thought the old style Atkinsbulletinboard the best and easiest to use.

Many of the other boards I am a member of use this new software, but I prefered to old. This may just be the "comfortable old slippers" syndrome, but as I said - I reserve judgement.

For all of that I do sincerely thank all those who work hard to make this board the sucess it is.

Everything was saved except PMs.

Labarum, Everyone has personal preferences. The fact that the old software couldn't handle a board this size was one of the big reasons for the change. Just deleting a large thread would bring it down. This board brings stability and a lot of new features. I'm sure there will always be some things that you liked the way worked on the old board better, but hopefully the stability and new functionality will make it worthwhile for you.
