I'd rather post "I club baby seals for fun." I think my sister-in-law is too thin but she's an inch shorter and has a tiny frame. On the other hand when my nephew was born the placenta was paper thin, they called him a "miracle baby". She's always been obsessed about her weight and about exercising. If you're worried about someone I'd pm an admin or do it personally. Calling them out publically will just create a big drama scene."Only request in my behalf both inward and outward strength...that I may not merely be called a Christian, but really be found to be one." -- St. Ignatius of Antioch, Epistle to the Romans

Yeah, I'd keep it to myself. Some others have noticed the same thing. We just don't say anything about it. Just like I wouldn't say anything about someone being extremely overweight. I wouldn't embarrass someone like that. Someone's weight is a personal issue and we're all here to support each other. Just my 2 cents worth.

Re: too skinny?
Most likely this person you speak of already knows he/she is underweight and most likely likes it that way. There are health detriments to being underweight as well as being overweight, but we all make a choice. If you are concerned, I also say to PM this person and in the nicest way possible express your concern. But as I said before, the person is probably well aware of being several pounds underweight.Originally posted by fivebyfiveI am concerned about someone on this site because they are too thin..according to their stats they are actually undwerweight but I dont know if I should say something or not because everyone else is telling this person they look fantastic. Hey control of food is all some people have.
As long as they are eating healthy and not using self-abusive behavior like starvation/purging/etc :vomit I don't think it should be an issue here.
It's such a high to see the scale move I think some people don't want it to ever stop. Seeing it going the other way can feel devastating. I know once the scale stopped for me I lost a lot of motivation.
Don't know if this is what you guys are talking about but I could imagine this happening.
Anyways my advice for everyone here is to drop it. If you have something to say about someone then say it otherwise put a sock in it. :nono

And that's why I'd rather say "I club baby seals for fun!" or "I push old ladies out into the street!" No matter how nicely someone tries to bring something up, people get their undies all twisted. On the cyber-world though, that is to be expected. We can't hear the different tones of each other's voices. But I think G-Mom is spot on. My scale stopped moving awhile ago but my motivation hasn't gone anywhere. Then again, I'm not one of those who only had a little bit of weight to lose. The "motivation" isn't in seeing the scale move. The "motivation" is the new life style and adopting a new approach to food. There are people out there who never had a lot of weight to lose and then when they lose a few pounds are out there throwing into people's faces how great they are and doing it under the guise of trying to "help" others when they KNOW they're only doing it so other people will praise them and put them up on some pedestal. I know that I'm only 25lbs from my goal weight and to some it may not seem like a lot, but take a look at how long I've been here. How far I've come. I've been here over a year. I've seen them come and I've seen them go. In the long run, and as cold as it may sound, it all comes down to me. Me and what I want. My goals and my dreams.Anyways my advice for everyone here is to drop it. If you have something to say about someone then say it otherwise put a sock in it."Only request in my behalf both inward and outward strength...that I may not merely be called a Christian, but really be found to be one." -- St. Ignatius of Antioch, Epistle to the Romans

If that person is me, forget it. I hear it all the time...but it doesn't affect me at all.
I am a very healthy weight for my bone structure. If I wasn't could I run upwards of 125 miles a month? I also do weight training which I couldn't do if I were unhealthy. I eat all Atkins friendly food, I don't eat sugar or starch and I have excellent blood work.
By the way, the weight charts, just like everything else, have been adapted to fit a society which is already overweight. Look at the clothing industry .. what used to be a size 8 is now a size 4 or 6. Why? Because people like to believe they're not as big as they are.
Isn't it odd that people worry about people being too thin, but being overweight is the norm?
I've come to the conclusion that, to most people, "too skinny" is a person thinner than they are.

I was wondering... does this person who seems underweight to you, do they display any other behaviour that would be a cause for concern?
Remember there are many people out there who are deemed "underweight", but they have developed such a high metabolism that they just have to eat tons to stop themselves being underweight. If they are happy and seem to be eating well, then being underweight can still be "healthy" as long as they don't develop thoughts heading towards an eating disorder.
and unless the person indicates this is the case, then it may be really hard to tell just by looking at their stats or their photo coz they could really be living a very healthy life.30yo F 5'5 (166cm)

Sometimes the actual poundage per height charts can be quite scary - I mean the "ideal weight" for someone of my height and build would be 98lbs. Now not only was I still a child when I was last that weight, to actually return to that now would be near enough impossible. Much as I'd like to be 98lb I think I personally would be a bit worried if I were.
Most people I think are realistic enough to know there own limits. From personal experience I would say that this isn't a typical WOE for a person who tends to suffer from an eating disorder. After all the point is to EAT - not starve/binge and purge. :hug

If it is you ttdriver, I had thought at first that you were way skinny, but once I'd seen that you were a runner that seemed pretty normal. I've known alot of runners in my life and all were very low body fat. I don't really know any cyclists, but they sure have skinny little butts when I see them on the road, especially the guys!

Look at professional athletes like Lance Armstrong and they're mighty thin-looking. Bill Nye is an avid cyclist and he's pretty thin. I think anyone who exercises a lot is going to be incredibly thin. They'd have to be. The body need streamlining. Excess baggage at running 125 miles a week won't last long!
