I'd say more expensive, but then the people doing low carb seriously are using them sparingly to not at all. How about over there?

I'd say, not just low carb, but any fresh, healthy food. I have always noticed that it cost more to buy good for you food than it does to buy junk, even in my low fat days, I used to complain about it.
If I buy fruit for my family, I can spend anywhere from $5-10 a week, but you can buy a box of little debbies for $1 or some cookies for $2. Or you can buy crackers, chips, etc for a couple of bucks instead of fresh veggies for $4-5. So, It seems like our society makes it so easy and affordable to eat like crap..

You kow, I just told my hubby the same thing yesterday. I was in the cafeteria line at work, and noticed how much more it costs to eat something good.. I got a nice salad, some grilled chicken with cheese, and a few grapes.. costs me $6.. the lady behind me gets a hamburger and fries for $2

As far as the low carb product line.. yeah, they mark anything labeled low carb, IMO. The low carb ketchup and barbecue sauce is much higher than the regular.. I have noticed that it is cheaper to just buy some things labeled sugar free instead of low carb.

Anything low carb or of a healthy nature in Canada is alot more expensive than buying regular food. That's why there are so many overweight people. It is cheaper for them to buy chips, chocolates and pastas, or filler foods, than it is for them to stock up on fruits, vegies, and cheeses. Makes me wonder about our society! ensive

They cost a fortune. If someone were to go on a shopping spree for nothing but low carb items, they would surely go broke. It's outrageous!

And there was me thinking you all got a better deal in the US. Here Low Carb sauces of which there are only a few work out @ £1.80 that’s about $3.20. For non-low carb sauce we pay 50p-70p so that about triple. Low carb mayo is not a lot lower in carbs, in fact one manufacturer is selling a low carb mayo that is higher in carbs than the standard!

You know, I'm finding that if I need some kind of prepared food like a condiment that one of the products not labeled low-carb may be just fine. I've been using salsa here and there and for some reason the cheaper generic/store brands that I checked out had sugar listed, but a variety of others did not. And it may be worth it to make your own recipes if possible.
