  • Too Skinny is locked? why? that is really silly!

I think people say some of us are too skinny because they really believe we are!

I have been on Atkins for over 2 years and my perspective on body size has really changed.

People I knew years ago and who I thought were skinny ...now I think they are normal weight or even plump! and they have not changed...

And people who I did not think were really overweight by all that much...now I see them as obese! :yikes

and women whose figures I was jealous of 2 years ago...now I see they are about 20 or 30 pounds heavier that I am now... and I see them as plump.... needing to lose some weight....

I think usually when a thread is locked the mods don't like anyone reviving the topic in a new thread....
Keep doing what you're doing & you'll keep getting what you're getting!!!

perceptions on weight can be a very touchy and objective issue. When I started losing weight and people knew I was doing atkins...they would always start telling me to stop because I was too thin and I didn't look good. meanwhile, I'm 6'4 and at the time weighed around 185...which doesn't seem much. since i am tall, when i wear normal clothes, I do look pretty thin, especially because I have a long face, and the face is where you lose weight most obviously. So my face looked thinner and people automatically thought I didn't look good. In the meantime, I was not by any means "too skinny..." my BF% was nevere under 14% and I did then and still have very prominent lovehandles and a tiny belly that annoy me to no end. I have broad shoulders, a very narrow chest, and then lovehandles...which, for a man, gives me a very odd look...practically an hourglass.
so when people tell me i'm too thin, i just tell them that they haven't seen me naked.
but that's just my story. i'm sure that there are many people who definitely are unhealthily thin...but i'm also pretty sure if i was one of those people, i'd rather hear concern from someone close to me like a firend or family member rather than an internet message board poster whom I've never met.

        I don't like to lock a thread.

I love everyone on this board in a platonic and happy vibe kind of way, and sometimes sentiments, even when well-placed, do run slipshod over the feelings of others, even when unintentional.

I saw some feelings were being hurt, and I decided it was time to maybe move towards a more productive means to an end, rather than continue a topic where people's days were being unduely affected with what could be perceived as negativity.

This is a support board, and we're to be soft on people here. I wasn't seeing a whole lot of soft.

I think we sometimes get our feelings hurt over things, and sometimes we don't.

I'm sorry locking the thread upset a few people, but they don't pay me the big bucks to make these tough decisions for nothing.

On second thought, I'm not paid for this.

        Hey! Where's my agent?

At any rate (about 35 WPM), I like what nobodyknowsme said about the issue.

"perceptions on weight can be a very touchy and objective issue."

Heck yes. And today it is touchier than some days. Today we're all about the touchy.

Hey, you can touchy me anytime cleo baby. lol. My thread over there was very poorly written. Words of wisdom...don't drink and post! My intent was how some people give genuine support and others are not so genuine. Then I realized that isn't very supportive or helpful and that I'm actually being guilty of being non-supportive and being a highty-tighty. (Is that the righ expression?) Either way, don't drink and post. I woke up this morning and realized I had been posting on here last night and could barely even remembered what I posted. Not good. Not good at all. Vodka comes out...computer gets turned off.

Whose business is it, anyway to say to a thin healthy energetic well-toned, muscular person 'you're too skinny'? Nobody's business. Including family members. For every person who tells me I'm skinny, 15 will say I look great. Bottom line: I like me and how I look, so no one else need to state an opinion.

I worked my @ss off to lose 40 pounds and I'm working it even harder to keep them off (see the exercise board for details). Hooray for me!! I stay on this board to help others achieve the goals they've set for themselves and to realize that if I can drastically change my life at age 49, they can too!!

Here's a skinny :hug for all of you!

My husband thinks I am skinny/ thin enough - I don't think so, I see I still need to lose 15 more.

Sure I look good in clothes but it's summer I want to look just as well in a bikini.

He gets upset because I don't value his opinion, I do
I get upset because he can't understand, he's never had a weight problem in his life.

Only someone who has battled with their weight can understand what I am getting at: to see that magic # on the scale or to fit in a certain size.

me too! :yes but that would only happen if I go below my goal weight of 120.... which I have..... last two diets I went down to 119 lbs and my husband said enough... I am getting to skinny!

and that was music to my ears.... but I stopped dieting and put it all back on..... :sadblinky

then he said.... umm.....why don't you lose some weight?... you would look a lot better... :sadblinky

I wish someone would tell me I was too rich. That would rock! Although I figure I'm saving about $130 month by stopping smoking. whoo hoo! :icondance

I surly didn't get to where I am today by being nonchalant about it.

                            Obsession: Act of besieging; Persistant

I am dedicated, I stay focused on my goal, I AM persistant therefore I am Obsessed-lol

My opinion of being obsessed is doing whatever it takes, at ALL costs to reach your goal...whether it's healthy or not. Yes, I'd like to be skinny, but first and foremost I'd like to be healthy and strong, and have toned muscles...if that means being 140 pounds, then cool! I can live with that...but if I can get to 120 and still be healthy and strong with toned muscles, then thats fine too.
