  • Tortilla help...

Well I ate low carb tortillas(5 days before I was supposed to have whole grain) and had a bad reaction. I have one tortilla on two different days. First time I had a headache and was very tired and didn't connect the two. I felt like I used to when my blood pressure rose. Next time I had the same reaction and the only new food was the tortilla. I'm bummed because I really liked these ones better than the ones I tried first time on Atkins. Also, they didn't kick me out of ketosis. Here are the ingredients. If anyone has a guess on what would cause this. I'd like to avoid this next time I try a grain.
Water, oat fiber, whole wheat flour, soy protein, wheat gluten, wheat bran, high oleic safflower oil, oat syrup solids, yeast, salt, guar gum, preservatives (fumaric acid, potassium sorbate, sodium propionate), lecithin.
The product name is Don Pancho Low Carb Wraps. I tried them as nachos and soft tacos. They were yummy. :anger

Hi Checkers, take a look at my thread in the OWL forum about wheat and my asthma symptoms. I tried out some wheat crackers and while they didn't stall me out, I began wheezing. When I removed them from my menu, I stopped wheezing.

You might have a food intolerance to one (or more) of the ingredients in the tortillas.

I was wondering what those were as I wrote that post. Not2late, I checked out the other post and I remember that one. Do you have the brand name and ingredients for your crackers. I have flax bread and wasa crackers waiting for me when I want to try again. The wasa crackers only have 2 ingredients so I may try those in a few days.

I can eat the WASA Fiber Rye crackers without any problem. The whole wheat crackers I have a problem with are Carr's Multigrain. I could be some ingredient that makes my body go wacky. I had a similar problem with ricotta cheese---to make a very long and very frustrating story short, I can only eat one brand of ricotta cheese. :no

But that's the joy of OWL, you can test out different foods to see how they affect your bod and that will help you out in the future.
