  • I am going on vacation

    I am leaving (on a jet plane) :icondance on Sunday and will be in L.A. on Monday. That begins a month long vacation (most of which I hope will be low carb). Chicago is next then Orlando then Greenville SC. Can someone out there give me some good LC places to eat in all cities as we will be eating out every day. I know I can make most menu choices better but I have heard that there are some resturant chains that are LC friendly. :angel When I was there 4 yrs ago (1st time doing Atkins) I found it really difficult to get some places to make even the slightest changes. :smackhead I want to come back slimmer.

    I think you should make a few copies of the foods list and just eat off of that. Stick to the basics: avoid sauces, avoid breaded foods, avoid added sugars, etc. Grilled and roasted proteins, steammed vegetables or sauteed vegetables are your best bets.

    I don't have a problem eating low carb in "regular" restaurants (I've eaten low carb in a tea room that served High Tea!)

    So stick to the basics and you'll do fine.

      When we were in Orlando we went to Golden Corral almost every day. But only do that if you don't freak out at buffets, and if you are able to make wise LC choices despite all the crap placed in front of you. Some folk can't handle the buffet cause they think they have to stuff themselves silly to get their money's worth.

      But their steaks are the BOMB. I always got a steak, a piece of baked turkey breast, and a large salad. If I wanted more I got some cooked veggies too. If I wanted 'dessert' I got 2-3 strawberries.

      Golden Corral rocks, and its cheap!

        Things will probably have changed in the last 4 years, and I'll betcha you don't have problems finding items to eat, or getting restauarants to make little changes, like substituting more veggies for spuds, etc. It's so common now for people to ask for changes.

        Also, you just started Atkins the last time you were there, and this time you're going to have all that much more confidence about it, so you'll be more feisty when it comes to asking for adjustments. :guns
