  • Bruising more easily since starting the WOE

Is anyone else bruising more easily since losing weight? My husband is concerned because it seems like I have bruises everywhere. I was doing yard work the other day and that is where most of them came from. Maybe I'm just being clumsy! LOL

Are you taking your multivitamin supplements? If so, what are you taking?

Also your a lettuce only veggie eater, you might want to look into expanding your veggie selection. Some veggies contain Vitamin K, which is necessary for forming blood clots, in other words, if you are low in Vitamin K, you might bleed easier.

I found this in the begining as well...It did go away, and it was after i started taking supplements. and as Note2late said add more veggies if your not getting enough.

This has been happening to me too lately. But, I've been eating more LC than actually Atkins. Does anyone know exactly what vitamin or mineral deficiency is causing this? I take a multi-vitamin and I still eat my veggies, but sometimes it looks like I've been beaten; very unattractive.

I am taking multivitamins. It is a Walmart brand of Centrum. I recently saw that many on this board take Centrum Silver. I will switch when these run out. I am wondering if I should take one in the morning and one at night.

As far as veggies, I think I'm doing ok. I have been eating a variety. I eat broccoli, salad, cucumbers, squash, onions, green peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, cauliflower etc.

          Thanks for the replies.

I forgot to add that I also eat spinach and cabbage which I see is high in Vitamin K.

Have you recently started an exercise program? When I first started weight training/walking on the treadmill (I went from 0 exercise to exercising 4-5 times a week), I got bruises all over my legs. I was told that exercising in women can increase estrogen (I think it was estrogen?) and therefore temporarily weaken capillaries...resulting in bruising more easily. My bruises went away after awhile.

I've always been very fair skinned and bruised pretty easily, so I don't know if Atkins has been making me bruise more now or if it's just the norm for me...but the other day I kicked my shin on something, it hurt for a second but wasn't TOO bad...not enough for a bruise I don't think...but yeah, now I have this big greyish purple mark on my shin..heh
