    Re: Help!

Thanks so much for your good feedback and I'll pass it on to her too. She's determined to stay with this and so I'll be faithful too. Cindy

      Re: Help!

      Hi there

Just to say that your daughter is taller than me (although I'm older!) and since starting the exercise challenge with the Board in April I have lost a fair few inches and gone down a dress size so I know how it can be done. She doesn't have to join an expensive gym or anything like that but exercise does make such a huge difference on this WoE. I've never been that keen on exercise but having committed myself to the exercise challenge I'm not regretting any of it - in fact I've kicked myself for not exercising from the first day I started Atkins.

Best of luck to your daughter - us short people do seem to keep the extra pounds more than our taller sisters but when we lose it we look GOOD!

        Re: Help!

First of all, she is young, so she has that going for her, secondly, she absolutely MUST exercise!! She should be getting in some weight training (even if just floor exercises and free weights) plus cardio. The weight training is so important because muscle burns calories and fat, but fat burns nothing.

She needs to drink at least 64 oz. of water per day plus 8 oz (since she has 25 lbs to lose). This is VERY critical. Her body will replace lost fat in the fat cell with water (to hold the shape) until it takes in more than the max capacity of water, then it will release that water and she will have a sudden drop in pounds (whooshie).

I suggest that she dump the regular bacon eating. Bacon is LOADED with sodium and nitrates. Breakfast is a toughie, but she should remember that breakfast need not be "traditional breakfast foods". I would suggest perhaps having more veggies in the eggs, a smaller salad at lunch, but more meat. Dinner sounds fine.

Lastly, tell her not to get discouraged!!! Losing this 25 lbs might take her a year (I doubt it but maybe), but she could be this weight next year, heavier, or down 25 lbs with nice toned muscles. Tell her not to be in a rush, she WILL get there, look at most of us on this board! We didn't give up and we were rewarded.
